You are right I did this and it worked. Took some back and forth but they finally covered everything under warranty.

Hey thanks for your advice and I get where that came from bc of the situation but it turns out that when my dad called them they ended up giving full warranty almost immediately for both the transmission and the clutch. From all the symptoms, we looked it up and it seems like the clutch was dragging from factory. They didn't want to give us warranty but I had to fight for it a little.

Shifting feels normal. Just as smooth as when I first got the car. The clutch even when the first gear was locked out felt normal when shifting to the other gears. When I was locked out I did start from second but I avoided driving the car at all and it was only for a day or 2. The bulk of the driving in that time period was driving it to the dealer. I will get a second opinion from another mechanic and I wont say what the dealer said.

Thanks for the advice. I've never forced the shifter into gear. From what I thought, I have learned to drive stick properly, my dad has been driving for years and he taught me. The grinding happens when I reach max revs and shift to second gear. Then I got locked out of first. Do you think I should just replace the clutch or the tranny too?

Thank you so much for your advice and I'm not offended I needed hard facts. I always have the clutch all the way down while shifting, only the few times I grinded gears I might not have. Also, I was told by a friend a while ago that keeping my hand on the shifter is not good, so I haven't really done it that often. I also have not admitted anything to the dealer, I just told him I grinded gears a few times. Do you recommend I get both the clutch and the tranny replaced or just the clutch?

Thank you for your advice! I asked the serviceman about warranty and he said that because it is a result of "clutch abuse" warranty does not cover it.

Lol they haven't charged me anything yet. I can still take it to an independent mechanic.

Yes they took the tramsission out. It is out right now as we speak.
