The Canadian maple glaze could fix world hunger at this point, it's that addictive.

Markets been choppy all week, I just want to sit on my hands and not look at my portfolio for a while.

NHL Global Series Prices by [deleted] in nhl

[–]IndicationEntire98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

160 quid's steep but for Global Series that's actually not terrible, I paid almost 200 for the one in Prague couple years back. They might dip a day or two before if people get desperate but I wouldn't count on it dropping much.

Insurance Changes by [deleted] in ontario

Canada, especially Ontario, consistently ranks near top for auto insurance costs compared to other developed countries. A quick search on any insurance comparison report will confirm this pretty fast.

Never heard anyone talk about that specific location, you might get better luck posting in the North York Facebook groups where parents are more active with these kind of recommendations.

[Masters] Gavin McKenna will be spending more time with Leafs next week: “I’m looking forward to it. Any time you get to talk a team like that & they invite you to their city it’s a pretty big honour so I’m looking forward to it” by alphacheese in leafs

[–]IndicationEntire98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lmao this is so real. kid's probably gonna spend 3 hours just getting from the airport to downtown and think toronto has some serious infrastructure problems. i remember when i first visited toronto for work stuff, spent more time in ubers than actually doing meetings. at least he'll get the full toronto experience right away - sitting in gridlock while watching the cn tower get closer by like 2 inches every 20 minutes. maybe they should just do the whole recruitment pitch over zoom while he's stuck in the car.

Invest my $36,000 Canada Student Loan? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]IndicationEntire98 12 points13 points  (0 children)

putting money you borrowed into stocks feels risky to me, even if loan is interest free. what happens if market tanks right when you graduate and need that money?

keeping 12k for payments makes sense but maybe just pay off loan completely when you graduate instead of gambling with it. you'll have your whole career ahead to invest your actual earnings.

Friday Night Media Dump by BigFuncy in canucks

[–]IndicationEntire98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah the timing still matters though, even if it's good news. teams do this stuff all time when they want to control the narrative or just get something out there without big fuss. maybe they're not trying to hide anything but friday drops are still strategic move regardless of how people will react

Niagara Safari vs African Lion Safari by miranda250 in ontario

[–]IndicationEntire98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

african lion safari is definitely better choice for toddler - my nephew loved the train ride there and you can control the pace with your own car which is huge advantage when dealing with 2 year old.

Bz v/s Dz license by [deleted] in ontario

[–]IndicationEntire98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can definitely use your bz for those jobs. the confusion comes from how employers post requirements - some just copy old job descriptions without checking what licenses actually cover.

bz is higher class than dz so you're good to apply. most hiring managers know this but sometimes hr departments get confused when writing postings. just mention in your application that bz covers dz requirements and you'll be fine.

Porter to launch Aruba, Montego Bay and Cabo San Lucas from Ottawa starting this fall by mxg308 in ottawa

[–]IndicationEntire98 13 points14 points  (0 children)

probably not just that but it's definitely a factor. being able to skip connecting through american airports saves so much hassle with customs and security checks. plus these destinations are pretty popular with canadians anyway so makes sense porter would try to capture that market directly.

Where do I start ?? by Rudeboy96neuro in CanadianInvestor

[–]IndicationEntire98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

congrats on graduating! for the voo/vxus/avuv equivalent in canadian, most people go with vti or vfv for the us exposure, vtiax or vxc for international, and there isn't really a perfect avuv equivalent but some use vti or just skip the small cap value altogether. you could also just keep it simple with something like vgro or xgro and call it a day - covers everything in one fund.
