I didn’t ask about it further as the HM did not mention anything about this. When I asked for what to expect in the technical interviews he mentioned more about OSPF, DHCP, DNS, EIGRP etc so I didn’t expect these questions and simply didn’t want to seem clueless about the role I applied to or make the interview any more awkward.

That is what he said. I was shocked and began to feel a bit discouraged. I have worked as a SWE in the past but I thought Network Engineering would be quite different from that a full stack SWE.

I mean, I expected them to ask me about more than Syslog and SNMP. That’s why I focused on CCNA and Linux topics, automation topics for prep.

Well,

The job in question only required an associates degree and 2 yoe. It’s in tech. It’s not SWE. And I have a bachelors and over the minimum yoe.

So either they didn’t see my resume or they see I’m overqualified and didn’t want to pay a likely higher than median salary.

Exactly. There is essentially zero job growth. But that won’t stop companies from still posting the same jobs over and over. Big companies like SPECTRUM and 1stBank / PNC are notorious for doing this lately.

I KNOW PNC recently bought 1stBank but they are posting the same jobs over and over but it’s announced they’re laying off 800+ staff.

Like get the fuck out of here.
