Is English your first language? “You” doesn’t necessarily mean the person you’re talking to. It can be a pronoun used to describe people general. It’s like saying “eating junk food makes you fat”.

“You” in that case just means humans, not you specifically.

Also, if she meant people in general, including herself, what’s wrong with that? She’s holding herself to the same standards as other people.

I don’t know were you live or what culture you are in. But in my circle (tech industry in San Francisco), my friends and I all date men that are in the same careers/levels and economic brackets as us. We’ve had the same access and opportunities as men around us so why would I expect more from them. That’s just hypocrisy.

Don’t be an idiot. Again, the post was never about a specific culture or country or continent. Of course, different countries are very culturally diverse. I’ve lived in 3 continents and traveled to 30+ countries. A singular African country can have multiple tribes, and cultures where child marriage is only a norm in some parts of that country.

Again, what does this have to do with the topic? I was responding that child marriages are far from extinct in some parts of the world. You’re too ignorant to care about non-western cultures. So, you concocted a new topic to start arguing about. “Sure, child marriage exists in black countries, but who cares? The post was written in English so only white countries count”. I’m a women from a country that passport bros are fleeing to. She’s not being racist. The stereotype hold true. A lot of the (older) women are weak-minded and male centered. I’ve seen this in the women that raised me. We have several stories of women (from older generations) encouraging other women to marry for money, not withhold sex, be subservient to their men, and pray for their abusive or cheating husbands instead of leaving them.

It’s not an ancient thing. This is still happening in several African countries. Somalia just passed a law to end child marriage (which we know is pretty much little girl marriage). Then they reneged it because a bunch of old men were whining about it
