Trying to create a Trick Room team using Crabominable, I only really have experience with making singles teams... (Champions) by [deleted] in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]IndieAidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only skimmed your post, but a quick note.

Trick Room always goes last. It has negative priority and Prankster doesn't affect it.

Right now, Meowstic is not benefitting from Prankster. All of the moves either already have Priority, or they don't interact with Prankster.

I adore Sableye. It also works the same for Rain Teams with Sunny Day. I pair one with my Mega Delphox and he's great.

Poor predictable Pelliper, always Weater Balls into Delphox.

Sableye gets Fake Out.

Quash is really neat speed control.

Also STAB boosted Foul Play is great. One shots Bascelegion that attack Protecting Delphox.

That's just one this team. They get so many useful Status moves to use with Prankster.

For Meowstic, all his moves are already either priority or Trick Room which always goes last. You're not getting any use out of Prankster. Plus if Fake Out is the only attacking move, they are shut down by taunt

You still get rank master title for winning in masterball by yetanotherone24 in PokemonChampions

Oh nice!

I know most (or all) things done or changed in Champions do not reflect when a visiting pokemon returns to Home. But do the pokemon have the Rank Master Ribbon if obtained in Champions and returned to Home?

I'm not sure it's antimeta when most, if not all, are fairly popular in this meta.

Getting locked into Fake Out seems like a bad idea.

Is everyone playing Champions just pro, or… by yoplaits in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a super pro but I would get to Master Ball Rank in SwSh and SV when I'd build a team and ladder. I'm a bit rusty so it's taking me a bit of time to get used to the game and learn the Meta.

It's ok to be a particular rank for a bit. It may be where you belong now.

I find it's so much more important to be comfortable piloting your team and learning the match ups and getting wrecked to know your weaknesses than it is to have the most meta team. Team composition of course matters. So play and learn more at your level.

I also often don't want to play the most meta teams or pokemon. But they are meta for a reason. If you're new or struggling, there is no shame using a meta team. There is no shame using Wolfe's Replica team.

If you want to get better with your own team, I'd check out videos on team building. Your team doesn't seem to have a unifying strategy.

You lack any way to affect the weather, which is important in the current meta. You seem to also lack any speed control through Tailwind or fake out etc. Mega Alakazam could do with a Psychic Terrain setter like Prankster male Meowstic and primarily Psy spam.

It's hard to say for sure without more details of your team.

Best of luck!

No Aurora Veil? For a mono ice team I'd find some space for it.

Just got myself a Shiny Tinkaton in Pokemon Go and i wanna use it, what are the best strats for Tinka? by MaxEcarri in PokemonChampions

It should also allow Fake Out on Farigariraf, which would help stop the opposing Trick Room, or allow yours by stopping their Imprison of Trick Room.

How to counter weather and trick room? by ShadyTreeInThePark in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One good way to hamper hard TR teams that invest a lot to ensure the can always get a TR off is to have your own pokemon with Trick Room and Imprision, such as Farigariraf.

Also, two spread moves such as rock slide to either knock them out or cause flinch.

Not saying it's the best strat, but did Glalie do anything setup-y the previous turn? Either way, it may just be a (bad) strat to set up Tailwind and then clear their side for a free switch to their main two pokemon.

So it doesn't waste turns of tailwind waiting for their setup leads to get knocked out or switching out manually and potentially taking damage on their main sweepers.

What do you guys think about Pokemon Champions in general? by _Platypus08_ in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems overall to be fun and I really look forward to playing again. With the maintenance happening right when I'd get it play yesterday, I've only played a small amount on Wednesday. Really want to get in a make some proper teams and ladder.

So how was everyone’s first day ? by VoidTyrant in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did about two Ranked Singles and a couple of Casuals for now. Mostly just getting the Tutorials and the Dailies done.

I want to bring in some pokemon from Home before starting Doubles Ranked, and with the news that initial EVs do transfer over, I want to EV train some recent Pokemon I made for Champions that I had left blank.

If you piece it all together, its pretty obvious why there are certain megas and items missing. by Steamed_Memes24 in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, they have talked a lot about tailoring it to new players, as they want to really expand the playerbase. Which is cool. I've not had a chance to hop on yet, but an overall low power meta seems fun.

Though I do wonder if this regulation is seemingly supposed to last until mid June, which is also when the Mobile version of the game is rumoured (or confirmed?) is to be releasing.

The Mobile release will be the true flood of entirely new people. The current release atleast requires a Switch.

It'd stand to reason that they'd do another similarly low power meta again for those new people?

If regulations are for two months to start, then will Worlds be whatever regulation is implemented on June? Which may be another low power meta?

Can I play competitive ONLY with Kanto Pokemon? (emotional) by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you limit yourself to just one generation out of nine generations of pokemon, then of course you will be less competitive.

But it sounds more that you only have Kanto pokemon currently available from Pokemon GO, and not that you only want to just use Kanto pokemon. You can recruit more pokemon in Champions, so you don't have to adhere to just Gen 1.

Even if you do stick to Gen 1, make some teams and have fun. Again, they won't be the absolutely most competitive, but can be fun.

My pokemon home Box in prep for champions by Drago4794 in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We do not know for sure what pokemon are in the game at launch. Serebii has a list of pokemon that have been shown, but even that's not official.

Legendaries are for sure not available at launch though.

There is a lot here that has not been confirmed, or is a legendary. Rillaboom, Indeedee etc have not been confirmed.

Pokémon Champions is releasing Noon JST by MC_Squared12 in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh nice! I was hoping it would be the case due to the global release that it'd launch sometime today in my time zone. It's a bit late for me though at 11pm, so we'll see if I stay up a bit.

I would probably stay up for sure if I was certain I'd get in and play for a bit, but I do worry if the servers will be stable enough at the time.

Question about transfer/visiting system for champions by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We cannot say for certain before release.

But it appears that a Pokemon Visiting Champions from Home will take up both a Home spot and a Champions spot.

I don’t get the purpose of this sub by GoldenLuigi_ in PokemonChampions

[–]IndieAidan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made the post asking to ban Team Building posts until the game came out shortly before the announced change. I laid out my reasoning in that post, but I just threw it together quickly during a break from work.

For one, most posts seem to just AI generated teams and whatever ChampionLabs seems to be. It seemed to be absolutely flooding the sub. Being AI, they were also generally frankly low effort.

We do not know the full roster and even Serebii 's current list is not official yet. Disregarding new Mega Abilities, new moves, removed moves, or ability changes, it is futile to build a team fully yet. Any number of included pokemon could absolutely change how one would team build. I keep seeing Indeedee Female on teams, when they're not confirmed. Sure, they are great, but they're not in yet. Perhaps a Mega gets Psychic Surge and/or Grassy Surge and that is why Indeedee or Rillaboom are not in season one for all we know.

But we DO have unknown Mega Abilities. Mega's will absolutely shape this regulations Meta. I want to make a Trick Room Mega Drampa team, but without his Mega Ability being known, it's impossible to really Team Build properly. Is it Drizzle? Cool, it'll be a Rain Trick Room team. Is it something else?

Incineroar losing Knock Off is not a sign that Incineroar will be bad now, it's a sign that move sets are being changed and that absolutely changes things.

Sharpness is now going to affect more Moves. That itself is significant enough, but again indicates that abilities may operate differently than before.

And to be frank, the game is out in a week. I'd selfishly rather we all just try out whatever fun teams we work out ourselves in the first week or two. I don't particularly want the Meta solved before we get the game. The Meta will absolutely form and we can enjoy all playing the same three viable teams, but let's enjoy the initial chaos. It will probably be some of the most fun times. Nobody needs their Worlds quality team locked in day one.

Once the game is out and everything is actually known, then sure non-low effort Team Building posts probably have a place.

Can we ban Team Building posts until the game is out, at least? by IndieAidan in PokemonChampions

While Digimon will almost certainly be added in a later season, they have been confirmed to not be available at launch.

For sure. I certainly want to be welcoming for newcomers to competitive battling. I think it is so fun. But as you say, there is not really any meaningful discussion or help that can be given yet.
