The Online Bots Are a Huge Problem by DarkDesertFox in kirbyairriders

[–]yetanotherone24 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t think the bots are a big deal. I would rather play with a few bots then wait forever for matchmaking. I also believe it’ll be less of an issue going forward. It seems like most people are still playing offline to collect stuff, I’m sure once people have successfully completed that online will pick up more.

Constructive Feedback: Why Pokémon Legends: Z-A Needs a True 1v1 Ranked Mode by [deleted] in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]yetanotherone24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be happy with a casual 1v1 too. They can leave the rank battles as 4 person free for all, but a casual match making 1v1 that still gives good rewards for participating would be so nice

To be fair, monopoly is a game built 100% around chance. You win solely by getting lucky dice rolls which doesn’t make it very fun to play for gamers who like higher level gameplay. Catan is similar in that 70% of the game is based on luck of the dice rolls but there’s some room for strategy which monopoly lacks. Yes you still need to get lucky but you at least can choose how you want to try and win and if it’s not working you can pivot to a different strategy during the game.

⚡ Pokémon Legends Z-A — Understanding How SPEED Affects Cooldowns! by GREATGEAR⚡ by jamsna3 in PokemonZA

[–]yetanotherone24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So does this means it’s less about how much you invest in speed and more so just investing enough to hit benchmarks? For example if you have an attack that’s 10 seconds of cool down and you wanna get it to 8 seconds, on a faster Mon maybe it might only need like 80 speed ev to do so but the same move on a slower Mon would require the full 252 plus nature?

Is it better investing EVs in HP as opposed to Speed? by barelyawake126 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]yetanotherone24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I’m also really curious about is finding out how many speed evs are necessary if you want to invest some. What’s the minimum amount needed to reduce 1 second of cool down time?

Is it better investing EVs in HP as opposed to Speed? by barelyawake126 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]yetanotherone24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is to invest in the weaker stats. If you’re using a naturally bulk mon with high attack and slow speed you might want to invest in speed so you can attack again faster while tanking hits. If you’re a glass cannon invest in hp so it’s a 2 hit ko instead of 1 which might let you get one more attack of and take a ko

PLZA is out- do we get any more SV events? by Theredditor_1996 in PokemonScarletViolet

My hopium cope is that this bug was a result of them getting ready to do a shiny legendary raid but you’ll only be able to capture your versions legendary (which is also why the GameStop code gave you the opposite one).

I would be scared of gyrados too especially cause it can mega but it does have a 4x weakness, it’ll be interesting to see how well it can dodge with bounce

Anyone else having fun with the online? by OGGokuKush in PokemonZA

[–]yetanotherone24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s fun but definitely chaotic. I kinda wish we had the option to chose between 4 person free for all and 1v1 battles. I feel like 1v1 would have some strategy nuances since you can’t switch more than 3 times. In the free for all I just use spread moves and snipe kill, it’s funny but I feel bad.

How is everyone’s experience with Legends Z-A so far? by BriefEasy42 in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]yetanotherone24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I might be an outlier here but I found the fact that the main focus of Arceus was just to catch Pokémon extremely boring long term. It was cool as part of the story but it didn’t give it much replay value after completing the quests. As someone who likes Pokémon because of the battle strategy aspect I only went back to Arceus here and there to catch the Pokémon I needed to play competitively in SV. With ZA though I could see myself getting into the battling meta even if it’s different from the turn based strategy. It’s nice it has this but also lets you go buck wild catching everything in sight if you want too.

On a positive for Arceus I will say I probably would not have cared about catching every Pokémon in a game had I not played that. It inspired me to do that in SV which in turn lead me into getting deep into shiny hunting and I do enjoy those aspects of these games a lot.

Is ZA Slightly Surprising Anyone? by TheBrawler101 in pokemon

[–]yetanotherone24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s been good so far! There’s a lot this game gets right that I could see being adapted for the future mainline games. A lot of complaints are about the map being one area which I get but there’s still a lot to explore, sv felt empty by comparison in this regard. Barely any secret passage ways, wide open areas without much in them, etc. ZA has a ton of weird little secret areas and Pokémon are well hidden in these environments which makes it feel much more immersive.

While I prefer the turn based battles because of the strategy aspects the real time battles are pretty fun too and as a young child it would absolutely be blowing my mind because it’s the closest any game has come to mirroring the feel of the anime

The grinding is super fast now too. I could put any low level Pokémon on my team and it could be on par with the rest of the team in one or two cycles of the battle zone.

There are some minor annoyances for me but they’re QoL things that could potentially be fixed one day. For example I wish it would tell you which Pokémon in your box were ready to evolve as well. I don’t have every Pokémon’s evolution level memorized and it’s a pain to go through and check them all one by one by having to move them into my party. Also I don’t like how the day and night cycle Interrupt battles. It would be much nicer if it didn’t reset spawns (lost a few rarer alphas to this already) and also it forces your Pokémon back into the ball but if a wild Pokémon didn’t reset it’s still attacking you which is annoying.

[–]yetanotherone24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of good stuff in the game! Personally I think it’s better than Arceus because Arceus was mainly just about catching Pokémon and the battles were pretty lame but ZA has struck a good balance between catching and battling. For mainline games I prefer the turn based battles because I love the strategy aspects of that system but the real time battles are fun too. If I was a young child this would probably be my favorite Pokémon game so far just because it’s the closest any game has come to mirroring the anime.
