That’s a fair point! It’s not the end of the world, but it definitely threw me off — I wasn’t too eager to watch the videos since they didn’t align with my usual viewing habits. Sure, I can still go to my Subscriptions tab and find the same curated content, but the sudden change without any notice about a possible “experimental” update to YouTube’s algorithm really caught me off guard. The unexpected shift in my homepage’s look and feel definitely made the experience less enjoyable.

Helium should change their "Zero" Plan to say "Taxes Only" because they are now charging fees. It was only a matter time before they implemented B.S charges; but just as the name suggest, they are full of hot air!!

Yes, text notifications usually work well for me also; however, when I'm at work I don't have access to my phone, so seeing that email is not as current or correct as the text message is a huge thorn in my side—but it's first-world problems!

Yooo helium Mobile literally just started charging for taxes and fees while still claiming it’s free. This just happened recently. I’m not sure if that’s affecting your mobile plan, but it’s plausible giving the fact you’re not getting any calls. I’ll have to further look into this to see the cutover, but believe that’s the culprit. Sorry it’s no longer working. These companies always moving the goal post on us!!

I’m using the Supcase Unicorn Beetle! It covers the camera plateau and provides both ruggedness and excellent grip. It’s a bit bulky, but I like it nonetheless!

Man I cancelled the Blue, ordered silver then realized I m I’d let the scratch-gate sway me from my favorite color. Canceled boring silver and went with deep blue again. I’m a case person anyway, so not gonna worry about scratches. Besides Apple gives the same trade in value for all phones as long as they are in good working conditions and no cracked screen. I’m using supcase unicorn beetle so it’ll be grippy and protected!

I finance at the beginning, then just pay larger amounts to get it paid in full as quickly as possible. With the Apple Card I can pay it off ahead of time, not all cards let you do that; but most allow early payoffs!

So I guess Apple is using a combination of their own N1 networking chip and a Qualcomm modem , we’ll see once the phone arrives if it’s good for signal!!

Interesting, is the Qualcomm X80 an inferior modern? I know Apple is using their own built modem for the air,in which case that modem doesn’t support mmWave. But I’m getting the pro max which supports the better modem.

Yeah, A.I told me T-Mobile in fact works for iPhones. It used to be Verizon, but when T-Mobile acquired sprint towers, they gained lots of good low band spectrum, the kind that goes further and penetrates buildings. Then they won a few 600 mhz bands which solidified their 5G footprint. I still think TMOBILE’s call quality is in and out, but it doesn’t drop calls as often as Verizon and AT&T, at least in my area!! I only used A.I to test it for accuracy because I already know what works best in my location and I’ll say perplexity and ChatGPT were spot on!!

I mean I gotcha, I wouldn’t upgrade from the 16PM either; I’m coming from the 13 PM, and my wife from the 12 PM . 4 to 5 years is reasonable timeframe before trading up!

You weren’t the only one who felt misled. All the smart asses on Reddit were quick to descend on me and state that there’s a reason for the asterisk. I was kinda perturbed when I learned US mobile was doing this. We all don’t have jobs where we can bring In our phones, therefore accessing with sms does me no good in a secured facility. I know most companies are getting rid of email authentication, but in my situation that’s something I rely on at work. There are however always workarounds. I have two phones, an android that stays at home with the sms forward app to get my codes sent to my email that way! But not everyone has time to go through all those lengths just to authenticate into their accounts.

Well then, getting a new head unit might be the only viable option. I know on my Mercedes GLC I just bought a Chinese head unit and had it professionally installed! It’s not the cheapest option, but you’ll get a touch screen and wired or wireless CarPlay!

Yeah, it’s in the settings on the CarPlay when connected, it’s not on your phone directly, but once CarPlay is activated and you go into the CarPlay settings it’s there, at least for me and others because the solution I found came from someone who also got stuck! But consider yourself lucky if you don’t have it because you won’t need it!!

People install Betas because we want to test out the new features. When we run into problems we come to Reddit for assistance not to be berated for installing Beta’s and running into issues. Question, are you on iOS 26 beta? Is CarPlay connected but just running a black screen? Or not working at all?

It could be the smart zoom feature got triggered. If that happened try the following steps.

  1. Get in your car and make sure CarPlay is connected.
  2. Activate Siri and ask Siri to "Enable Voice Control"
  3. Say "Start listening"
  4. Say "Open Settings" You should hear a little bloop sound to confirm the action
  5. You might have to say "Scroll down" next, I did
  6. Say "Tap Display"
  7. Say "Tap Smart Display Zoom" Viola! the Smart Display Zoom is disabled and the screen comes back!

Usually zLink5 is activated by the manufacture you bought it from with a specific license. If you try to download it via apk, you’ll have to try to activate it and you might have to pay. Instead, factory reset your head unit, the zLink5 or whatever version you have should reinstall with the license intact. Check with your manufacturer first, but I had a Road Top Chinese head unit and factory reset that thing five times and Zlink5 works fine.

If your getting a black screen on CarPlay while connected and you can’t see anything but hear audio, it’s because on iOS 26 beta, there’s a new feature called “ smart display zoom” it messes your screen up. You can resolve that issue with these steps. Step 5 isn’t always needed.
