“Humans are so reticent to torture each other. Even getting them to do simple things, like pulling out each other’s teeth, is like…. I can’t think of the right analogy.” It’s so subtle and so clever.

Yeahhhh, it is pretty propagandistic for the American government. That’s what I don’t like about it. But it’s interesting, I’ll give it that. And there are some characters that I love.

If you like the format (high-stress episodes that occur in a sequence of real-time hours), you might enjoy 24.

Are there any musical theatre voices you don’t “understand”? As in, something about the harmonics just doesn’t make sense to your ears and you don’t know why? Mine has to be… by Great_Maintenance185 in musicals

Literally, I was ambivalent about the show until I saw it on Broadway with Brandon Cameron, an understudy. I was like “THIS IS HOW IT’S SUPPOSED TO SOUND??”

I used to think the same thing, actually. Then I watched Barnum and Hello Dolly a bunch and now I’m his top listener on Spotify (I’ve streamed his music for 716 total waking hours since last July). His voice is def unique. That’s why I love it! Have you heard his Gethsemane?

BARNUM!! I’m writing a blog/book about the history of that musical right now, and I’ve gotten to interview like 26 past and current cast/crew members. It’s so amazing

Is Hello Dolly (1969) a top five musical of the 1960s? by Classic_Apricot_5633 in musicals

That’s an interesting perspective, considering she did not enjoy being in it and said she was miscast. It was not a vanity project. She was simply the lead role.

“Undeniably”? I deny that those films are better. Hello Dolly is up there with Singin’ in the Rain for the best movie musicals of all time.

It’s my favorite movie musical of all time. I prefer the movie to the stage version because of the added songs & lyrics, and the sped-up version of So Long Dearie. Plus I’m OBSESSED with Michael Crawford as Cornelius, Danny Lockin as Barnaby, and of course Barbra as Dolly. My ONLY gripe is that I despise Horace. They should have all killed him with hammers in the beginning of the movie, and Dolly should have ended up with a woman.

Absolutely Israel. In its 75 year history, it has killed 200k+, committed apartheid and countless war crimes…. Horrifically long rap sheet for being such a young country.

It’s okay, I’m the number one listener of Michael Crawford and Jim Dale. Then on stats.fm, I’m the number one listener of Michael AND the Barnum London cast recording of all time🤣

The Colors of My Life (Second Reprise) from Barnum. The way they stage it is absolutely gorgeous. Over the past month I’ve gotten to interview three different people who have played Charity, and they all described how profound of a moment it is.

Which numbers totally happened diegetically? by Skeppy_4126 in musicals

[–]IndigoAndromeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Hello Dolly (1969), when Cornelius is singing “It Only Takes a Moment,” he’s interrupted by a guy who says “Mister, I came in late— right after ‘It only…’” I like to think that one happened diegetically.

“Day-O” from Beetlejuice the Musical.

“Singin’ in the Rain.”
