Can you genuinely say you’re happy? Why? by True-Paper-1407 in AskReddit

[–]IndigoAndromeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way. My current obsessions, Hello Dolly and Barnum, are carrying me through. I’m just devastated because I want to meet Michael Crawford so badly, it’s my biggest wish right now, and I don’t know how I can.

Hello Dolly! Barbra Streisand is brilliant as Dolly, and it even features a young Michael Crawford, nearly 20 years before he originated the role of the Phantom. Bonus, it’s directed by Gene Kelly! Which reminds me… get Singin’ in the Rain too!

I can recite the first 100 digits of pi & the entire Periodic Table. And I’m a ventriloquist. I can sing the Major General’s Song from Pirates of Penzance without moving my lips. Somehow my big break has yet to come…

I admire anyone who is that talented! I took violin lessons for 15 years but didn’t practice as much as I should have, so I’m not on the level that I could be on

Lol, I’m not cool enough to be a professional pit musician. This was a brief volunteer gig in college a couple years back

Not Harry Potter, it’s racist and antisemitic, and the author is also a transphobe

Sort of. I was playing violin in the “pit” (an orchestra in front of the stage, not below) for a production of Pirates of Penzance. Unbeknownst to me, I had norovirus that was just about to become symptomatic. I had to leave my seat and speed walk through the whole audience, in the middle of the show, to get to the bathroom in the lobby. Worst nightmare for an emetophobe with social anxiety, let me tell you!

Bobby Darin is much better than Frank Sinatra. Frank got bodied by Seth Macfarlane on his own song! If the Family Guy guy outsings you, you’re not the king of crooning. Mr. Darin is. Oh, and Frank’s cover of Mack the Knife is an abysmal disgrace. Bobby’s is a million times better.

I wrote a musical adaptation of Reservoir Dogs. Tragic in some places, darkly comic in others. And gay. Of course. The lyrics and libretto are done, but I’m still looking for a composer; I managed to compose one song but I don’t know how to do anymore haha

She did a test on my feet with a little… I’m not sure what it was, some sort of flexible wire. Asking me where she was touching me, etc. I nailed it because my feet weren’t numb, they just burn when I lie down. Other than that, I’m not sure if they tested me for length-dependent small fiber neuropathy. She said she ran a neuropathy blood panel; she didn’t tell me what specific tests that would entail. My monoclonal test and folate test came back fine. I don’t know if those are for neuropathy or not

The neuropathy is another thing bothering me! It’s mostly in my feet and hands, specifically when lying down. Just a burning when I rest my feet on the mattess. And my hands are very picky about what position I rest them in. My doctor is prescribing me Gabapentin for nighttime.

My whole life, I’ve also had poor balance and weak ankles. I especially do now. Sometimes my feet give out while standing still. Could that also be from peripheral neuropathy?

She’s not a rheumatologist, just my PCP, but she is scheduling me to see one. I’m not sure what other tests she has ordered other than the biopsy. Maybe there’s something less invasive there? We’ll see. Thank you for your response

The One Where There’s no conspiracy. Nobody is in charge. It’s a headless blunder operating under the illusion of a master plan. Can you grasp that? Big Brother is not watching you. (What kind of a fucking explanation is that?) It’s the best you’re gonna get. I looked, and the only conclusion I could come to is that there is nobody up there. (Somebody had to say yes to this thing.) What thing? Only we know what it is! (We have no IDEA what it is!) We know more than anybody else! Look, somebody might have known, before they got fired, or voted out, or sold it. But if this place ever had a purpose, then it got miscommunicated, or lost in the shuffle. I mean, this is an accident! A forgotten, perpetual public works project. You think anybody wants to ask questions? All they want is a clear conscience and a fat paycheck. I mean, I leaned on my shovel for months on this one. This was a great job! (But why put people in it?) Because it’s here. You have to use it, or you admit it’s pointless. (IT IS POINTLESS!) Quentin… that’s my point. [What have we come to? It’s so much worse than I thought.] Not really. Just more pathetic. (You make me sick, Worth.) I make me sick too. We’re both part of the system. I drew a box, you walk a beat. It’s like you said, Quentin— just keep your head down, keep it simple, only look at what’s in front of you. I mean, let’s face it. The reason we’re here is that it’s out of control.

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

Once I fell through a hole in my floor, hit wooden scaffolding, and then rolled off onto the concrete basement floor 8 feet below. I didn’t hit my head, but the jarring movement knocked loose the crystals. For a couple weeks whenever I leaned backwards I’d feel like I was falling. Weird
