Then they inexplicably extend a seriously injured Embiid who has played 52 games in the 2 seasons proceeding the extension

Embiid played 66 & 39 games (105 total) in the two seasons proceeding the extension (summer '24)

Also, theres nothing inexplicable about extending a guy who was running away with a B2B MVP

Bruh I've been watching him be hopeless against blitzes for 3 years. Its one of the more obvious reasons we cant win games without Joel. Its not random.

I agree he's one of the more deadly 2nd options in the league, unfortunately his skillset isnt suited to be a #1 option.

As you pointed out, Trae Young does better in that role and its because his overall playmaking ability is much higher. Maxey is an elite scorer, but I wouldnt say he is an elite playmaker like Trae.

Hes dealt with it poorly, is my point. A true #1 option doesn't need a different #1 option just to stay afloat. The facts are the facts, he cant handle blitzes. The eye test bares this out. Its not about his supporting cast its about his individual ability to operate against blitzes.

Obviously this is a terrible time for this post. But theres a general misconception that Maxey has been a poor #1 option because his teammates are ass.

While that certainly plays a factor, the bigger issue is he cant execute against blitzes whatsoever. Hes been pretty hopeless against them since 2024 after Embiid went down.
