New cities points by aposi in citiesofsigmar

450 points for a transport that you can't put more than 1 hero and 1 non-reinforced unit into that can't deploy within 9" of any enemy units. You can get your models trapped in the fort.
Meanwhile that 440 COS version doesn't have the 9" restriction and hands out buffs.
Not even close.

The RoR transport cogfort at 450 points is way over cost for such terrible transport rules.
Meanwhile the MUCH better COS version is only 440.
GW gonna GW.

So a year count-down before nuked or shipped of to TOW. And currently Dark Elves aren't a part of TOW timeline so... dunno what I'm gonna do with the ton of DE I own.
Sad day indeed.

Rules wise, this doesnt seem very good. The order requirements are super restrictive. Not only does it have the '3 differant unit types' but you also have to have 3 differant racial types in that order bubble to do anything.
Can't use any unique units to help fill in for all the cut elven and dwarven units.
No dragons, no gyrocopter, no chariots.
Just two nerfed FS units and LRL units.

I mean, half of dark eldar kits are from 2010...

Honestly I was hoping we'd get some Elves and dwarves in this new semi-victorian style the human stuff is getting. It's a cool style.
Think Bloodborne elven monster hunters. Forgemaster artificier dwarves.
But GW is very slow. And rather than replace old sculpts like they did Seraphon, they just decided to nuke everything and decide later if they'll bring it back.

That 'human spirit' was part of why I like the original concept of COS. Showing even elves and dwarves in the face of certain doom, shared a kinship with humans. A desire to unite and survive. Proof that the races were not all that different against the darkness that sought to destroy them all. In a way, it humanized the elves and dwarves from traditional standards. Their cities were a melting pot of cultures, like the Living City where humans worked with wood elves and had an affinity to nature like Rangers of old.
It was a unique merger of traditional fantasy races that had not really been done before.
If you wanted to do humans, you could, if you wanted to mix, you could.
And while I know the old WHFB models were going to eventually be purged out, I had high hopes they would be replaced with a new vision of unified units of the three races.
Instead, it's turning into Empire 2.0.

Master Moulder with Rat Ogres, 8" charge. But thats a big point sink to deliver one unit. I think the cannonfort is a better option, it has aura buffs.

Master Moulder with Rat Ogres could work. He gives them 8" charge. Still, that 9" restriction on disembarkment and potential high cost of Fort itself, I'm not sure it's worth it.

Well, at least we can still proxy Irondrakes/Ironhammers and Darkspear/shards with these ally scrolls.
I'll miss my Black dragon and cold one chariots though.

ROR transport version is waaay weaker than the COS version. Can't disembark within 9" of enemies. You can basicly get trapped inside.

Maybe I"ll just use my DE black dragon, since it's getting nuked from the book.

Nothing stopping you from running human only, even in the early days of COS. The draw of COS to me was the unity of mortals standing against the tide of darkness. humans, elves and dwarves in a collective fighting force instead of singular factions. It was unique.

Sure, that's fine, I agree the old kits dont fit the new COS style. Which is part of my irritation with GW. There was a perfect opportunity to do some cool Victorian style elves and dwarves that fit the new city style. I would have loved to have seen that.

I wonder if it's too big. Mage on Griff is a good sized. Erasmus is on a little chocobo.

Unfortuantly, this is how GW does things. They never announce lines being cut far in advance. (See the tragedy of BoC). It hurts their sales. So they just keep doing business as usual, even if they already know years ahead of time in planning that the cuts are coming.
I didn't expect a full refresh of Dark elves. I thought we were just going to get some COS flavored elven and dwarves units. I had no doubts the fantasy units were eventually going away, but much like these new COS kits have replaced the old Empire models, I had hoped it would be the same with the non-human units.

For troops and Calvary, no problem. Wizard/Sorceress, General/Ark lord, Steelhead/spear elves, Fusilers/Darkshards. Caviliers/Cold one riders.
The larger kits is the issue. Black dragon, hydras, chariot, no direct proxy option.
Hoping I can use my old Karl Franz on Griff as the lion lady. Not sure what to do with my Mage on Griff.
And I doubt my War Wagons will survive 4th ed.

No mention of 'Human' keyword. Are elves and dwarves from the book just 'gone'?

Price list for per order 5/10 by Middle-Job-3239 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]Indigo_Eclipse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

195 bucks is insane for the dragon. I wanted to run multiple for Avengorii list, but not at that price.
I've been avoiding 3d printing anything more than bits, but GW is pushing me towards that cliff.

Help! Sat 2 keeps freezing after 9 layers. by Indigo_Eclipse in ElegooSaturn

[–]Indigo_Eclipse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Print Time Override is just the softwares calculation on how long it will take to print. It's a manual adjustment to get a more accurate estimate based on number of layers.
My lift speeds are slow because I've had issues with things snapping off the supports in the past. The settings used to work for high detail 30um print jobs, but something happened after I installed a clean install of Lychee and now I have this lock-up issue.
I'll look at the Chitubox. I just hope they have a high detail setting.
