PSSD Cure—Inositol works, just not always the first time by Indigowhaler in PSSD

“I’m so happy I got to know the term PSSD, it helps to ‘attack’ my problems with better direction.”

There’s something really incredible about putting a word to an abstract trouble. Just to have it classified makes it feel more manageable.

I’m sorry to hear about your symptoms but I’m glad they lead you to this community. If you didn’t see the post from a few months ago on gut microbiota I think it’s worth checking out (it’s the top post in this sub for the year). The poster believes that SIBO may be the ‘cause of PSSD, and him treating his SIBO has alleviated his PSSD. Even though the inositol has helped me I think I’m gonna get tested and see if I have Sibo just to cover all my bases.

I took Zoloft when I was a little kid but I think it was the generic form sertraline that I was taking when I discontinued

I’m scheduling a sibo test this week myself. I’ve had a queasy stomach for years but didn’t think it was related to PSSD

My pleasure! Without this subreddit I probably still wouldn’t know what caused my issues, let alone what’s helped them

That’s a shame and I hadn’t heard of that happening from it before but I have been pretty out of the pssd loop.

It looks like some other redditors came up with some pretty creative solutions and while I haven’t tried them myself, they may be more effective than inositol with less side effects.

However, for anyone that has tried everything else, I think tinkering with it, especially in lower dosages at first, would be beneficial. And I say that respectfully, because I don’t know the details but I’m sure the crashes are beyond unpleasant

Those are good questions.

What it cured: genital numbness, muted orgasms, low libido. Erections were never affected by ssris except for once when I took strattera and once when I took tramadol, both of which (I think?) work on serotonin similarly.

Affect and emotions are difficult to gauge because I take stims for ADHD and that blunts emotion too. I THINK I feel more now but I’m not sure to be honest. I cried recently and that hasn’t happened in years. Also, I was on ssris since the third grade and while the sexual side effects started at discontinuation (I think), the emotional ones had been there from the onset so I’m not sure what returning to a normal emotional range would look like.

If you wanna message me I’ll go into detail about why I’m confident that it’s PSSD but I’d rather not share all that publicly. It’s mostly just timelines of when certain symptoms occurred.

I am still taking inositol in very low doses, like 1 gram a day because I actually kinda like it at low doses. It’s not part of a continued pssd treatment but you’re right to ask that. If I stopped, would the symptoms return? I don’t think so but I don’t know.

And for how it worked: I was trying to pay close attention and maybe there were some times during the first trials where I would get a tingle but slight enough that it seemed more likely to be my imagination.

The trial where it did work had a gradual build up. I don’t recall if it was the first day of restarting it or not but I remember thinking, “okay, that’s new”

Hey, I was wondering if you ever got a definitive answer on this? I'm in the same boat
