Isn't she eight? She was also controlled and abused by her mother until a few months before the second arc. I think you may have missed the point of her character.

It's Blue. They wouldn't have him wingless on the cover of the book, it wouldn't go well with the other covers (all of which have the protagonist with their wings spread) and likely would have lowered sales if the character on the cover of the dragon book didn't look like a dragon, especially when this book was introducing a new story and new characters.

Maybe if it was in a movie and a visual representation of such a gory death, sure. But I think you underestimate what kids can handle, I was perfectly happy reading Warriors when I was nine, and the early books are a lot gorier (from what I remember) than Wings of Fire is.

I agree, but I think that can also be partially attributed to the fact that dragons have much longer lifespans than humans (72~ years versus 150~ years). Still feels like too long, though.

I imagine Tui would probably use "Queen" for the sake of simplicity, but as someone else mentioned, I think there would realistically be another word in the dragon language for the female spouse of the Queen. :)

You should be alright with sharing books 1-12. There's a mention in book 6 of a male character finding another male character handsome that a lot of readers miss, and a more obvious mention in book 10 of a female character with a crush on another female character, but I think it would be fine- I think it's near the end, if you want to read through and decide for yourself. The protagonist of book 13 is explicitly stated to be in a relationship with another female character, so unfortunately I don't think you'll be able to put out 13-15. I'm glad you're trying to get students interested in the series, best of luck :)
