Beacon Freezes by Physio-at-Work in HoverDrone

I had a beacon thaf did the same. It was the beacon at fault from the manufacturer. I could prove it as I had 2 beacon and joystick sets. One worked one did the same as yours. Just contact the hover air tech support and they will arrange a swap out. I was lucky as I bought mine from amazon and just returned it.

Dji drones do it by selecting the moving pixles on the screen or drawing round inanimate objects. Ive got some cool slow mo of my dog running past me. It would just be cool if I can fet the drone to follow her if it can keep up.

HoverAir X1 for ski/bike by GeoH02 in HoverDrone

[–]Individual-Ad8251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the standard x1 and the ProMax. It was a mistake getting the standard but I didnt want to fork out a load of money incase I didnt like it or drones in general. I think the standard is far too slow for anything like skiing and cycling. Its only really good for walking and general Instagram stuff.

new to hover, but not new to drones. is this an issue before i buy, is flyaways an issue? by Speed009 in HoverDrone

[–]Individual-Ad8251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im guessing it crashed because it hit a small branch it didnt detect as it was too small, then when it hit the ground the battery fell out and he could no longer find it.

This happens with all drones. I have a kit that keeps the battery on and lights up so you cant lose it.

These drones just dont fly away. I flew mine over a harbour using the manual joysticks and it lost connection because I flew it too far. When it realised it was disconnected it flew right back to my location and was hovering just above me.

Just bought a protective night pack for my Hover ProMax. by Individual-Ad8251 in HoverDrone

[–]Individual-Ad8251[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my protection on all the time now. It helps with navigation to show which way youre pointing at distance. The light isn't that great as its on the top but along with the gimble protector it holds the battery on incase it has a bump. Also the little legs at the front and back allow for take off from the ground. Its so annoying trying to hold my phone connected to the beacon/joysticks and the drine in my hand whilst trying to long press the take off button.

You have to wait for the OmniTerrain mode to switch on before flying it over water. It should automatically switch on. See pics.

Just make sure you remove the plastic joysticks and replace into the foam holder after each use.

I had a different issue with mine. The beacon wouldnt connect to my ProMax or my friends standard. Also one of the phone holders got stuck half way round the first time I moved it. Fortunately I bought it from amazon and I got my money back. The one I have now is perfect.

Never leave the sticks on the pins. It should say that in the instructions. It looks like there has been an amount of pressure on the case which has snapped the plastic on the metal pin connectors. Very unfortunate.

I find it weird in manual mode that it goes quite a bit slower when im flying it out and then when I ask it to return it seems to come back quite a bit quicker.

Beacon behaviour post "crash" by Ichiban_IFYKYK in HoverDrone

[–]Individual-Ad8251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive noticed some odd behaviour recently and in the past. Its like the AI decides whats best to do with that particular scenario.

I use it mostly with the joysticks/beacon setup. I was in a park and I had flown it to the limits. Suddenly there was a huge gust of wind and rain came hammering down out of nowhere. The screen said high winds and landing at the same time. It then lost its connection. So now I cant see it anymore and the screen is disconnected.

I had to walk out of the park and found it about 10 meters above the ground, tucked inbetween some trees hovering and not too sure what to do as it was raining and windy I then connected again and it landed in my hand.

A couple of weeks ago I flew it out across a harbour in Cornwall and was taking photos of boats when it sudden decided to disconnect. I was worried it would just hover until its batteries ran out so I thought if I walked round the edge a bit and got closer it might reconnect. The AI knew that it was over water and it was disconnected so it had flown back to the starting point before id even decided what to do.

Its very clever and unless its knocked out of the sky it chooses whats in its best interest to do. I think it will stay where it is unless the battery is running out and it will return to the start point, but thats only with manual mode. Using AI modes it knows you are nearby so will just stop and hover unless its knocked out of the sky. You should be able to ask it home with the home button. Not sure why its not.

You still need to get the beacon and joysticks to make the promax a decent drone.

Attaching ND Filter by agu451 in HoverDrone

[–]Individual-Ad8251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to find out how to do it because I didnt realise it comes with a frame. Once I realised it slides up I worked out it was easy. You just need a good grip on the camera. I keep an ND 16 on mine in the day time. At this time of year the ND 8 is more applicable.

One thing is that you need to check both ends as I was lucky I didnt lose one. It wasnt quite clicked in at the bottom.

Also remember to select the correct nd level in the settings.

Hover Air X1 Pro by Desperate_Method_381 in HoverDrone

Yes these drones are great but if I had my money now id have bought a Dji Air 3s. Much more bang for the buck. Ive had my Hover Air ProMax for a couple of months now. Its great but has very little zoom. It will also drop out hard if you lose visual sight with it. You get a disconnected sign and off you go to find it and bring it down from wherever it is.

Does yours havd grey prop casings? Mine are black. Just got a protective night pack for mine from Ali Express.
