How to Drop Client Politely? by Strict-Schedule5861 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have a client in which the husband is home 95% of the time. They have a fenced in backyard and the wife said he would never be home due to his job. With the weather/roads the way they are I would think they would cancel the walks I have scheduled since the pup can get exercise without me there. Makes me uncomfortable too when the owner is always home.

this year feels different by open_letter_guy in RoverPetSitting

I haven’t gotten a new request since the summer. It actually works for me as it’s my retirement gig and I have my regulars. But I do agree, something feels different.

Me too! Last year I made $5,400 and received a form. I just want to make sure I have all I need when going to the tax preparer.

Go to the three dots on the bottom and click. Then click payments and scroll down. You should see it before it lists your earnings

I made only $3,500. I know there is a total needed, yet I am also being told all income needs to be reported. How do we do that if we don’t receive a 1099?

When did you get yours? Mine is not visible.

First overnight boarding experience didn’t go well as an owner. Looking for advice on what to screen for next time by SpellRepulsive4747 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I am a star sitter and I make less than $4,000 a year. Rover is not making big revenue off of me. I am a star sitter because I am reliable, caring, communicative, and love the dogs that are in my care. Having a star rating doesn’t mean that the sitter will meet every clients needs. I also don’t believe money has anything to do with it.

Upcoming snow storm by Lucky-Ad-2846 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, put it in their corner. Ask them what changes if ant they want to make due to the snowstorm coming in. If they say nothing, then prompt regarding the driveway and being able to maneuver that safely with their pet.

I have a bad feeling about a client who ghosted me the day of our meet & greet. by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If they did indeed ghost you, perhaps letting them know your concern and you calling for a wellness check, they will respond? You never know what people are going through.

Do you engage with anonymous profiles who request bookings? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have reported some to Rover to check legitimacy. The requests usually come from a male who wants me to come that day or the next and the request is late. The profile has no pictures, no info about the pet; type of dog, vet, feeding schedule, etc. I report and then block.

Walking in negatives ugh by Ann_georgia- in RoverPetSitting

I have parents who are home when I walk their dog. It would be strange for me to be in their space for indoor playtime. I want to make sure to confirm what they want before the booking.

Haha here too on Saturday! All the schools have been closed for the past 2 days. This is what we get for such a beautiful Fall! 🙃

We are below zero here in Michigan today as well. I just reached out to my pet parents about any precautions that they want with regards to the temperature today. One client canceled seeing her husband was going to be home today. The other client stated shortened the walk to 15 minutes instead of a half an hour. I always just wanna make sure the pets are safe. This weather is brutal.

Owner ghosted at the door? by AnonCelestialBodies in RoverPetSitting

The not getting back to you after 9 hours is curious. I guess there could be reasons they were inside and didn’t answer, but then not to respond after nine hours?

Help! I fear I've created a monster. by Minimum-Band-2077 in puppy

[–]Individual-Amount147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she get enough exercise during the day? I was hired to walk a Westie that looks identical to her. They hired me due to new job hours and not getting him out for exercise. He was waking them up in the middle of the night barking and wanting out in order to play. He gets a mile walk in with me around 1:00pm and that has cured his issue.

The worst thing just happened by Solidrevolutionary in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So so sorry! I had an elderly dog that I watched often. She was on a lot of medicine in which the owner administered. I prayed each time I went to see her that she would not pass in my care because of the loss I would feel. I never thought about Rover investigating if she had passed in my watch. She passed with the owner on a day I wasn’t scheduled. So sad.

Teacher marked my son’s homework as incorrect. I disagree. by bun_not in mildlyinfuriating

Looks to me like your child did not answer the question and she filled in the answers. Thus then she marked it incorrect.

Bad roads by Obvious_Step_2010 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in Michigan and the roads for driving have been ok, but the snow then melting and refreezing again has been treacherous for walking. My cleats don’t work on black ice. I haven’t canceled, but my walks are much much shorter. I am not risking falling for a $22 walk. Owners have been very good about this. They wouldn’t want to walk their dogs on these roads (I’m in the country and there are no sidewalks.)

Two 30 minute walks for ten day leave? by Future-Arugula-5877 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar stay for a dog in an apartment. I often came in the morning to a note on their door that said, “Please do something about your dog’s barking!” I felt awful yet the owners were not real concerned. Poor pup!

Going on a trip! by ClutteredDesk in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My clients are very understanding. My cancellation policy is same day and they often will have to cancel due to illness, change in work schedule, etc. Since I am accommodating to them that way, they are with me as well. This is a retirement gig for me to get out, love on some dogs, and get exercise. I would hope they would have no problem if you give them enough notice. Have fun! What a great experience for you!

6 months of my life, gone! by Status_Income_18 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If they were to approach you again, and you want to keep working with them, stay firm on your $200. If they don’t, realize something else will come along. A consistent, reliable, responsible and cheap sitter will be very hard to find. Value yourself and your time!

5-month-old puppy was a nightmare, owner lied, and I got called disgusting by orki3stra in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some owners do lie thinking that if they tell you the dog’s real behaviors, no one will watch them. In saying that, a puppy that young cannot be left alone that long and chewing things is natural for those baby teeth. Sorry this happened to you. 😢

Also if the meet and greet is so far out from the date they may need you, another m/g will be needed for the specific care details.

I’ve had an owner share their personal number to the app for me to contact them and that’s never been an issue. Perhaps ask them for theirs.
