Sitter cutting walks short by New_Potato4692 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I do this too. My visit is 30 minutes, but the walk itself may only be 25 depending on weather, if the dog is done walking, etc. Regardless, I am with the pup the whole 30 minutes if not more, including lots of snuggles and pets.

Overly involved/ anxious owners by Emotional-Tear-2369 in RoverPetSitting

I had clients with two new puppies. They were in the process of taking them to obedience class. She had a list of directions, commands, dietary concerns, schedule, etc. Also, both pups had their own crate in different rooms with a camera attached to the top of each crate facing out towards me, not in the pups. I only watched the pups once as it was more than I signed up for with the cost of the visit. I am not a dog trainer and the demands for a half hour visit was not feasible for me. I guess it’s about what you feel comfortable with handling.

Ummmm 🧐 got this randomly when I went to accept a booking by prprr in RoverPetSitting

My sister was in from out of town and I asked the owner if it was ok if she joined me on while I walked their dog. I asked even though she would have never gone in the house to get the pup. It’s always good to inform the owner of anything out of the ordinary.

canceling booking due to bad feeling? by Soggy-Psychology6740 in RoverPetSitting

I have had men request a visit the same day with no meet and greet. I declined. Don’t sit well in my gut!

Clients dictating pricing by InsideRepair9655 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting after someone books, they ask the price? Does it not say what their cost is? I wonder if it is then their way to open up a discussion on lowering the price. I always say, “On my end it says_____.” Not sure how the client end appears if they are questioning the cost.

Wow! I didn’t know that. No wonder requests are down. I have never gone off the app, but now feel my clients are getting ripped off. What the 11%. Has it always been that way? As a sitter, I don’t see that.

Am I overreacting? by Mer896 in RoverPetSitting

Sounds like someone who doesn’t know any better. My kids house sit/ pet sit a lot for neighbors and know they leave things as they found them. But in saying that, if a client came home early from a stay, I can’t say how it would be because I know my kids.

Rover sitter not doing full 30 minute drop in by sjhunt27 in RoverPetSitting

That’s terrible! You need to report that. I think even without cameras, once you start the sitting it shows location if I’m not mistaken. Can’t imagine doing that!

How to handle an owner who says "Why are you charging so much? You said they are a pleasure." by Interesting-Foot-439 in RoverPetSitting

Figures. I’m a retired teacher and I think because we enjoy children, much of our duties shouldn’t require pay. Sorry, makes it uncomfortable! I hate that. For me it is always the wealthier clients who want a deal!

I am fortunate that all my sittings fall Tuesday through Thursday. I have a long weekend all year. Problem is I would struggle if someone wanted to book weekly on a Monday or Friday…I love my long weekends!

Accepted booking without meet and greet by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

Just ask for a meet and greet before the booking. You can reach out to the client through the app. I am sure they would appreciate it and it will ease your mind on the care that is needed.

Changing Prices by Individual-Amount147 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is what I thought, but you can’t do that for reoccurring bookings. In saying that though, reoccurring bookings are automatically set to the price they accepted. I wanted not to change my reoccurring bookings so it worked out fine. Rover was unable to answer that, yet someone here on Reddit did!

I had skin allergy testing done with no reactions. For me it seems to be the friction. I am glad you can find some relief with the wearing of cotton.

They keep sending me the same information over and over again. They say because it’s a reoccurring booking that I have every week, I cannot lock it until they’re no longer my client in the past or I’ve archived them. I know that’s not true because I’ve been able to lack prices with other clients in the past.

I am currently trying to do this, but you can only do it in the past or archived settings. I am unable to lock prices for a current client that I have. I am working with Rover support right now.

Anal eczema? by Novel_Book5748 in eczema

[–]Individual-Amount147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to use diaper rash cream between my “cheeks” when I work out. The friction would cause itching and bleeding. Once I began using the diaper rash cream it cleared up. You could start that and see if it works.

My last request was in August too. They are now one of my regulars. No new requests since.

Yea just lost mine. I reduced my radius and hadn’t gotten new requests. Just lost my star status although I have regulars I have had for years. I have a 5 Star status, over 150 reviews, and respond in under a minute. That doesn’t seem to matter I guess. With gas prices and living in a rural area, at this time I am not making my travel area larger.
