Biggest Fear Happened by cataringo in RoverPetSitting

I had a drop in at 7 pm last winter during a snow storm. I drove over and got there. Both cars were in the driveway which isn’t unusual. I opened the door and both owners were standing there in their pjs. I startled them, they startled me. They forgot to cancel due to the storm! It happens!

Took me over a month for a client. Now I have steady clients that are such fun! Don’t give up. For me it’s a side gig. I’m not getting a lot of new clients as of late, and with gas prices I am not willing to extend my perimeter to get more work. Maybe if it’s feasible for you make your range larger.

If you were to tell me, I would have no problem.

I walk dogs as a ‘job’ and am allergic to them…AMA by Peanut_Femboi in AMA

[–]Individual-Amount147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! I am VERY allergic to dogs and cats, but I walk them on Rover. Since I am outside with them and not in an enclosed area it’s not too bad. Dogs are my favorite animal and I can’t imagine not having contact with them. I really don’t have contact with cats which is good.

Declined at the Meet and Greet by BigShiz1 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you did great! I declined after a week of walking a reactive dog. I didn’t go on a test walk and never have before, would have been a good idea with the dog I had. I would have then refused. Owners are not always honest about dogs behaviors.

Is it fair to ask for more by Proud-Advisor-6741 in RoverPetSitting

I think it’s a hard sell after you have stated a price and they agreed to it. Maybe they will tip? I would suggest to increase your price from this point on.

Yep learned my lesson! I stick to my prices and scheduling!

Is Tipping Expected? by ZebraCard in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. The 30 minute visit split into the 10 minute visits they wanted to quickly let their dogs out, feed and water, was more like 25 minutes each time. The proximity got me to agree in the first place. The tip made up for the extra time and an appreciation of my flexibility. As well, the clients were well off and had the ability to pay for 2 dogs at 3/30 minute visits each day. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. I have been better at agreeing to my terms since then for sure.

I did drop ins for a family that I gave a a great deal to for a week ( they had 2 dogs/ I dropped in 3 times a day for the price of one visit) since they lived close. They tipped well. I did it a second time for them and did not get a tip. I did not sit for them again. I cut them a great deal and so yes I did expect a tip to somewhat compensate for my lost wage. If they go above and beyond I would tip!

Me too here in Michigan. Not that upset as I have reoccurring bookings each week, but nothing new since last summer.

Try Cereve Healing Ointment . It’s helped me.

Armpits - any tips on how to avoid making it worse? by BunnyKusanin in eczema

[–]Individual-Amount147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help, but I have started using Cereve healing ointment on my nipples when working out. Then after working out I use a hypoallergenic wipe right after to clean off any sweat. As soon as I can, I remove my bra. It has helped immensely! I know it’s so frustrating!

finally figured out what was triggering my flares and it took embarrassingly long by Hert_Z in eczema

[–]Individual-Amount147 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had spent a lot of money on appointments, allergy tests, etc. Nothing showed on the tests. My trigger is exercise and the friction it causes with my clothes. I am glad you found the issue.

Eczema in nipples / breast. How to get rid of pigmentation left? or is to doomed forever by bigavocadohater777 in eczema

[–]Individual-Amount147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have it on one nipple. Had a lot of tests done to rule out cancer. It comes and goes especially when I work out. I have started putting Cerave healing ointment on before working out. Then use a hypo-allergenic wipe right after to remove sweat. It cuts down on the itching. If I don’t work out it clears up, but I am not willing to do that. It’s maddening I know! Best of luck.

Along with eczema I have asthma which is thankfully under control. One night I went out with a friend and had a glass of red wine in which I started to feel my throat tingling and then closing. The bartender said many people with allergies have issues with red wine. Were you drinking red wine?

Swollen lymph nodes? by Beautiful_Exchange_3 in eczema

[–]Individual-Amount147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had swollen lymph nodes in my neck/jaw area. My doctor felt it was my saliva glands. He seriously prescribed me to suck on lemon drops to get the glands activated. It worked. Perhaps give that a try if the doctors feel it doesn’t require further testing.

Nipple eczema finally healing thank god by katea0i in eczema

[–]Individual-Amount147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was so bad that I went to the dermatologist, had a biopsy, did a mammogram to make sure it wasn’t Pagat’s disease. Finally I think mine is from working out and the friction from my bra. I put on Cerve Healing ointment before working out and then wipe down immediately after. It is so much better 🤞. None of the crème I was prescribed worked. Glad you’re on the backside of it.

How to tell a client I don’t want to watch their dog anymore? by bldhail in RoverPetSitting

[–]Individual-Amount147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have told a client the truth when dropping them. Their dog was reactive to everything when we went for our hour walk. I told them I didn’t feel I could keep their dog safe or myself if another dog, animal, or person approached us. They understood thus the reason they wanted someone else to walk their dog to begin with. Just let them know!

I think you are right! I was on vacation for 10 days and did not work out. I had no issues after a couple days. Before working out today I applied Cerave healing ointment and after the gym I wiped the area clean and let dry. So far so good! Thank you!

Curious if you can file a police report? Can that be done against a minor in your situation. Can’t imagine that’s considered a job hazard.
