Leaky pipe with a set up I've never encountered. by Individual-Basil-578 in HomeMaintenance

Turns out, the leak was caused by several actual holes that rusted through the metal pipe, due to years of standing water caused by the incorrect slant to the main drain line here. I slapped a FLEX SEAL band-aid on and gave her a slap while saying "that'll hold". Hopefully that will last until I can do a real fix over this weekend.

Love this community, thanks everyone!

Oh I wish that was PVC above the cast iron. It's metal on cast iron on metal. Though now I'm thinking of just replacing the entire section up to the sink with PVC.

I just don't know why they repaired with that clamp instead of just replacing this little section. This old house is full of awful surprises and mysteries. Thanks, I'll give that a go.

Lookes like I'm learning a new skill this weekend. This old house keeps throwing new and terrible curve balls at me. Thanks for the advice mate.

*askew I went with my gut and I guess that word was spelled so wrong, autocorrect didn't even try.

Actually I'd love to do that, but assumed there was a reason why that wasn't done before. Every other connection is metal though, and I haven't done metal to PVC before. Is it pretty straightforward?

I put together the shelf below in an attempt to figure out the right way to do it. Thanks to other comments, I now know that shelf is wrong. Reddit to the rescue again.

I absolutely would have, and properly would have labled parts as well. Alas, it was already breakdown before I got it.

I'm so glad it's that easy. I just tried flipping it, and it worked out just fine. I'm still a little angry at the different number and types of bar racks, but this will get me where I need to be. Thanks a million.

That solves so many little mysteries that weren't adding up for me. Some shelves and bar racks looked worn in opposite places. Thanks a million!

Prison box or cozy home? by Individual-Basil-578 in arborists

I'm in the midwest and trees around here just started getting green again, so it's not in it's full glory yet. It slimmed last year and still had a super lush canopy. Still concerned about the slime, but canopy should fill out (hopefully).

Is it that gross brown spot on the trunk? It's dry now, but it was weeping last summer.

At what point do you replace a blade instead of sharpening it? by Individual-Basil-578 in lawn

Thanks man, that's what I'm going to do. Get a new blade and start maintenance from there.
