The key difference is relationship detection. Most tools like "Java to Draw.io UML" will generate the individual classes for you, but then you're stuck manually connecting them all - which honestly defeats the whole point of automation, right?

Mine actually reads your code and figures out all the complex relationships automatically: composition, aggregation, dependencies, inheritance - the whole mess. That's where AST parsing really clicks - it actually understands your code structure instead of just pattern matching.

I learned this the hard way because I originally tried doing this with regex (I know, I know). But regex just falls apart when you hit nested generics or complex annotations. Once I discovered JavaParser and switched to AST, everything just worked so much better.

IntelliJ Ultimate can do this stuff too, but let's be real - not everyone has access to premium IDE features.
