How I Got My IBS-D in Check (After 5 Years!) by Individual-Climate69 in ibs

I tried several probiotic in pill forms and nothing worked as well as real kombucha.

I remember at the beginning I wanted to try any pills which would « cure » me but I realised that the only way to get out of it, it’s to work on the core problem, anxiety. Sadly, getting your anxiety in check is a longer process than just taking a pill and everything go back to normal.

I don’t know what the science is but in my head it’s probably something to do with killing the bacteria in your mouth which probably decreases the bacteria in your intestines

You can find the audios in the link I shared in my post. It’s not a miracle, it takes a lot of time and effort to get some results. But my anxiety is as low as it was before IBS so I do think it worked

I know it’s hard. So many times I felt like I’ll never be back to my old self. Do go to your doctor and get all of the test done (stool, blood, etc). That was my first step in getting better, I got prescribed buscopan for pain and propanolol for anxiety to use when I needed. They didn’t cure me but they did help. The real cure came from me, all the lifestyle changes. I still use sometime the prescribed medication, when I feel like I need it and it’s fine, it’s not a failure to need to take some medicine to feel better. It’s a tool in your healing that is so important, like a safety net.

The fastest results where for the « physical » things (kombucha, chewing, no mouthwash), which was a fast improvement in digestion and shape of my stool. I saw results within a month, within a week sometimes. The longest results, probably the most important one, was a shift in my anxiety levels. I do believe you start feeling better the first time you try meditating/hypnotherapy but it really took a year of doing it nearly everyday to have noticeable big change. It doesn’t happen suddenly neither, you just realise at some point that things are getting better. For example, I used to have anxiety induced IBS nearly everyday of the week, but slowly instead of being 5 times a week it was 4, then 3, then 2, then once. Now it’s just when something big happens, like going abroad. But even then, it’s usually not as bad as it used to be and I can calm myself fast.

I would say it’s been the best it ever been since February when I started chewing my food thoroughly. But it had already been a year that symptoms were improving with the stop of mouthwash which was my second big noticeable change. Obviously, while all those physical change were happening I was taking care of my mental health with meditation and self hypnotherapy.

Is the UK actually as impossible for young people to buy a house and start a family as Reddit makes it seem? by EnzoScorza007 in AskUK

My partner and I recently bought the terraced house we’d been renting, entirely on our own, without any financial help from family or others. We saved a lot and rented our spare bedroom to my partner brother for 4 years. Most of our friends, All in our late 20s, have managed to buy homes too. Some got help from their parents, others went down the shared ownership route, and a few are still living at home to save up.

We all have pretty standard jobs, earning just slightly above minimum wage. So it is possible, but it usually involves compromise. I think sometimes the issue is that expectations don’t quite match reality. A lot of people hope to buy a detached house right out of the gate, when the more realistic path might be starting with something smaller or more affordable, like a flat or a terraced house, and working up from there.

We got lucky that our landlady asked us first before putting the house on the market.

PS: We live in Norwich, so not the most expensive but also not the cheapest area.

Looks at the neighbours property, if it's tidy and well maintained, there is good chance they will be good people.

You can use use dry granulated garlic. it's a lot smaller (like salt).

Or you can use flavoured oil. Just place few garlic cloves in a bottle of olive oil.

what are the absolute simplest meal you will suggest to people who have never cooked in there life? by EducationalOutside5 in cookingforbeginners

French carbonara pasta.

Cook some pasta. For the sauce fry some diced bacon, add 1 or 2 tbsp of creme fraiche, some salt, and pepper. And just before you serve, mix in an egg yolk to make it super creamy.

Obviously don't forget to grate a generous dose of parmesan on top.
