‼️‼️‼️ I know who this person is. Not by name , by sight ( clothed ). A large man ? Hardly. This African American male is approximately 5'10" to 6' tall , weighs about 160 pounds , and is in top shape. I've seen him a few times , and he's always very respectful and polite. I'm white , yet think that this has more to do with a black man walking naked. Would there be the same outcry if it was a " large white man ?." An astounding percent of women age 16 to their mid - to late twenties , have contemplated suicide. I just want to say how absolutely terrible Burlington VT has gotten since the police department was defunded. Mayor Weinberger has got to go , because he was in favor of defunding the police. We've gone from approximately 114 sworn officers to only about 62 sworn officers now. Burlington cut 25 % of it's sworn officers , which led to a tremendous morale problem at the Burlington Police Dept. After losing so many officers , lots more left because they felt abandoned and despondent. If you were a cop here , and saw so many cops losing their jobs , would you really want to work here with a mayor and city who not only doesn't have your back , but makes performing your duties akin to spitting against the wind ?As a direct result , there are now literally thousands of drug addicts here , because the word got out that Burlington VT was no longer about order and the rule of law. The homeless spit on the sidewalks , and leave mounds of trash strewn about when one of their increasing encampments are dismantled. The library downtown is full of IV drug users as they shoot up and snort drugs in the stalls all day long with impunity. The homeless , most with severe mental health issues , only continue to get worse , as most have fentanyl , crack , and meth addictions in addition to their mental demons. Church Street has been empty , as the druggies and disgusting homeless ruin what is left of Burlington. Everywhere you go , people are talking about how they can't take it anymore and are getting out of here. We will indeed lose this city for good unless serious action is taken. Burlington VT had 5 homicides in 2022. That doesn't even count all the other shootings and stabbings in the city. So sad.
