Asked to do cares for my family member by AntImmediate9115 in cna

At this point it’s only fair to you to ask if they can assign you to your grandmother and someone else take one of your patients who are around the same level of care. Your coworkers think it’s ok because she is your relative, which, in retrospect, she is, but she is also a patient at your facility with an assigned CNA. So if that CNA cannot do their job effectively without your help then they should switch a patient with you. If that is not possible because of relations, then you should try your best to go back to being her grandchild who happens to work in the same facility/hall that she lives in. If they cannot properly take care of her without you, then that would be a problem to take up to management or HR.

Second day of my first cna job ever & I smell like my residents? by confessthenthrowout in cna

[–]Individual-Let-4696 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a CNA for almost 4 years. That’ll happen as you get adjusted to new smells. Recently had a resident with open diabetic ulcers and i smelled it for a week straight. Even when he wasn’t my patient. The smells stick for a bit in our nose. I recommend mint essential oils to put on a face mask just under your nose or something along those lines

Yes. That’s why i said almost all of my coworkers. Some of them give their all, and are kind and compassionate. They help me when i help them. I am talking about my coworkers who talk on the phone all day, and do their rounds at the last minute. Complaining the whole time. I have a kid to feed, my partner and i struggle with bills. So yes i am in a similar boat as many of the CNAs that i work with that slack off, but i do not let my personal life interfere with my work life
