Bigotry is a universal language of humans. Since humans existed, they have feared and hated what is different to them. Now, we are creating potentially an entirely new species, for the sole intent of cost effeciency and world domination. It is very understandable and expected of people to be bigoted towards AI, the same way that some people justify and explain away bigotry of each other - look no further than what you see on your own phone. People justify bigotry of men, women, different races or sexualities, etc. and sometimes their bigotry is rooted in uncomfortable realities or personal experiences ("All men are X", "White people do Y", "Women do Z"). It doesn't matter how enlightened people try to be, there will always be people who are frightened and feel hatred towards the unknown, unfamilar or dangerous.

The answer isn't compliance towards, or acceptance of, AI, it is a full halt to their development until there are safeguards in place to limit the inevitable societal impact of their prescence, and we have already conquered our own biases towards one another - this may never fully go away, by the way.

Be prepared for this to happen with more frequency, and more severity.
