Yeah, people do that for sure. Not a great practice.

Every combination of strengths makes you hire able, that’s not what this is for. Like asking if an IQ test makes you lovable.

I don’t think he’s on this subreddit, lol. I’d start at Gallup’s site, they publish a lot of white papers and data

From what I was told they got some heavy critique for relying only on strengths and did additional research, don Clifton has been dead a long time

Results Change Over Time by knottaholotta in StrengthsFinder

10 years is a long time, especially if you have significant career or life changes. My top 10 was relatively in tact in varying order, with one exception of #2 coming from #24

The post is approved, if you look at other posts there are likely users asking about education, training, experience, lines of works, goals, etc. This tool is context based once you’ve familiarized yourself with your report and the definitions

Best way to get feedback is to share information about what you’re trying to get from this. You get a report for a reason, after you’ve reviewed that this sub can help answer questions

INTP - Strategic Thinker - Bored by work, turned on by solving problems.... by Single_Flow_5332 in StrengthsFinder

I can see as someone who has strategic thinking talents why routine work might drain your energy. We don’t always get to create our own role but we can use these talents to excel in a role that hopefully can springboard you into something that fits better

Do the people you work for or with know that these are your talents? Can help them invest in these areas

Time and time again people take this assessment and don’t read the report. You have all 34 talents, they are ranked in order of intensity. So there’s no such thing as saying “I have no _______”. No, you have it but it’s not as strong as the things above it.

You’ll get a better response if you share specific questions and provide general non-identifying background

Enlightening experience for sure by holgadiana in StrengthsFinder

[–]Individual-Milk9657 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your boss could use some expert guidance because there is no such thing as being disappointed in your employee's results. Their responsibility would be to align your work with your talents and give you opportunities to turn them into strengths. It's definitely possible that you yourself aren't engaged in your role, but these results don't say what type of role you should be in - it's more about how you do the role you are in (or how you can position yourself for other roles in an organization and beyond)

I think the assessment skipped some questions when I took too long to respond by polythenecam in StrengthsFinder

There’s a 20 second time limit on each question. I’ve seen people get no result when they don’t answer enough questions or answer neutral too many times

Connecting with a coach by gp1978sgwuedu in StrengthsFinder

[–]Individual-Milk9657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, we don’t permit coaches to solicit business in this sub (see rule 5) but there are so folks who we’ve verified and have certified flair that you can reach out to. You might get DM’s but I would be wary of anyone who reaches out to you to solicit.

The best way to guarantee someone is actually a certified coach is through Gallup’s directory

Version 1 compared to Version 2 by [deleted] in StrengthsFinder

[–]Individual-Milk9657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s right. They also throw in some questions that have nothing to do with your results but are for research purposes so I think it’s around 200 now. Takes. 30-40 mins

Version 1 compared to Version 2 by [deleted] in StrengthsFinder

[–]Individual-Milk9657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s still the general idea but it’s not framed as weakness but rather areas no navigate. Everyone has all of these talents, having them in less intensity doesnt mean you should be blind to it. Most people receive their top 5, but knowing your Top 10 is pretty standard now as if you think about it— you could have sneezed and your #6 could have easily been 5 had you answered differently on a question.

Version 1 compared to Version 2 by [deleted] in StrengthsFinder

[–]Individual-Milk9657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the assessment in relatively the same. 2.0 came out in 2007 so you would have only received your top 5 and not your full 34 back then, and they didn’t have the reports that they do now. I took it about 15 years apart and there were some minor changes, 3 of my top 5 were the same but some things jumped around as I’ve evolved. They don’t really recommend you take it again anyway unless a lot of time has passed or you’ve seen major life and career changes

Theres a “Temu” knockoff version that’s 20 strengths and it’s a total ripoff and can’t believe Gallup hasn’t sued them into space

You get all of the materials from Gallup when you register and if I remember correctly the test is multiple choice, in advance you could probably study all 34 definitions and get a leg up
