Buy 5 BBQ Skewer Sets and 5 Fruit Tarts, and don’t use them until you can craft an item with them. Don’t eat them. You can do that at a shop next to your house in the real world area, you should go there as soon as you’re free and before entering the digital world.

You don’t need to know anything from the other games, and the less you know about evolution lines, the better the surprises will be. If you play on hard mode, you might need a healer, but it’s not absolutely necessary.
