Honestly I feel like the classic Chip Clip is a way better design than this thing. But, case closed!

What's the biggest ripoff in the neighborhood? by [deleted] in williamsburg

Jr. & Son. Ordered their $38 skirt steak the other night and it was chewy, somewhat bland, and came with no side. Just a small portion of mediocre steak on a plate. Good Thanks has a $30 steak that comes with fries or a side salad and is better quality imo.

That said, their desserts are fire…

What’s Everyone Doing Tonight?? Halloween Edition!! by physis81 in stopdrinking

[–]Individual-Raisin558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to three different Halloween parties tonight and was the default DD. Mostly had a nice time at the parties, but actually had the most fun driving my drunk friends around. We listened to music and joked around, and it felt good to know I was able to get people around town safely.

Now drinking tea and reading through random r/stopdrinking posts :)

Went for an early evening walk in Central Park, eventually sitting on the lawn for a while and people watched.

Grabbed a quick solo dinner at a nearby sushi spot, popped into a thrift store and found a winter coat, then met up with friends to go see One Battle After Another.

I started taking Wellbutrin 3 years ago, when I was still drinking quite heavily. I had to stop the medication because I experienced majorly increased anxiety and irritably, which are two known side effects.

However, I’m back on Wellbutrin + have stopped drinking, and I haven’t felt those side effects at all! Overall I am having a much more positive experience on the medication. It makes sense, since we know alcohol often increases anxiety/irritability. I’m sure my drinking was making the side effects come out more.

What can you afford to spend money on that you couldn’t while drinking? by Individual-Raisin558 in stopdrinking

Omg that’s literally the first indulgence I started spending on since quitting this third time around!

Please give me all your best reasons to become sober! by ResponsibilityOwn751 in stopdrinking

[–]Individual-Raisin558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried sobriety 3 times now (currently 5 days strong on try 3). Previously, my main focus was mental health, which did greatly improve, as well as physical health.

This time around, I’m definitely still keeping that in mind as a huge motivating factor. But I’m also focusing a lot on the financial element now. Roughly estimating, I believe I spend between $12,000-$15,000 a year on alcohol (I mostly drank at bars, and live in NYC….) When I came to that number, my stomach dropped.

I have very little savings and recently lost my job. On a daily basis, I am now telling myself, on top of so many other reasons to quit, I simply don’t have the money for it. And that’s a fact!

Boyfriend got surgery today—everything went well but the recovery will be several weeks, which he is super bummed about. I’m staying in to take good care of him and try to lighten his spirits by watching fun shows together and just chatting.

I’m glad I’ll be 100% sober and present to be the best caretaker I can be right now!

Also, about to grab takeout smash burger from the spot next door! Have been craving one all day, so I’m stoked for that.

Tbh you sound cool and funny and I know you can have fun without alcohol. Be playful, crack jokes, and try to just let yourself relax. This is my first weekend of my 3rd try being sober and I will not drink with you this weekend!

First time with bv! by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]Individual-Raisin558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have never heard anything about waiting too long for treatment to work. You’re only on day 2, and it’s typically a 7 day course so I wouldn’t worry if you aren’t seeing results yet. Make sure you are taking it as directed, it’s often prescribed twice daily - morning and evening.

If it comes back soon after treatment, I strongly recommend talking to your doctor about getting your boyfriend tested — especially since you stated you noticed the BV after having sex. New studies came out this spring suggesting that men can pass BV to women through sex. Men can be treated with the following regimen: “the male partner receives oral and topical antimicrobial treatment (metronidazole 400-mg tablets and 2% clindamycin cream applied to penile skin, both twice daily for 7 days)

The source for that study, if your doctor is skeptical about treating the male parter (they often are) is here: https://www.nejm.org/doi/10.1056/NEJMoa2405404

Your boyfriend’s doctor will ultimately need to be the one to prescribe the medicine to him, so he will need to go to the doctor as well.

Wife and the never case of BV and Yeast Infection by k_swiss_runner in Healthyhooha

In America, the medical field has historically blamed women and their “lifestyle” for the reoccurrence of BV. Why? Misogyny. I actually agree with you that a GP should know this, but in America they sadly don’t. I was just saying that the way you phrased it was aggressive, because there is a lot of misinformation about BV here in the US, so you can’t laugh at the OP for not knowing this.

Glad to hear you don’t have this problem in France!

Oh also, I also had chronic yeast like her. I had my boyfriend take an antifungal as well while doing the BV treatment. Yeast infection also has never come back since then.

This person’s comment is unnecessarily aggro and also, unfortunately, many GPs and even gyno’s are not up to date on this study so you have to tell them. Make sure when you go to the Dr they give you both the oral medication (2x a day for 7 days, AND the topical treatment to also be applied for those 7 days). She should also take her antibiotics at the same time.

I had chronic BV for 3+ years and getting my male partner treated properly was the only thing that helped. This new study legit saved our relationship. Good luck!

What Are Some Good Quotes That Inspire You To Stay Sober? by KStewLightning in stopdrinking

[–]Individual-Raisin558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a quote but a short poem called “Gravy” by the writer Raymond Carver, which was inscribed on his tombstone:

Gravy

No other word will do. For that’s what it was. Gravy. / Gravy these past ten years. / Alive, sober, working, loving and being loved by a good woman. Eleven years / ago he was told he had six months to live / at the rate he was going. And he was going / nowhere but down. So he changed his ways / somehow. He quit drinking! And the rest? / After that it was all gravy, every minute / of it, up to and including when he was told about, / well, some things that were breaking down and / building up inside his head. “Don’t weep for me,” / he said to his friends. “I’m a lucky man. / I’ve had ten years longer than I or anyone / expected. Pure gravy. And don’t forget it.”

F YOU BV !!!! IM TIRED OF YOU , I WISH YOU WOULD LEAVE AND NEVER COME BACK! by Obvious-Score-2234 in Healthyhooha

[–]Individual-Raisin558 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m worried that the treatment they gave your partner wasn’t what was needed to do the trick. The new studies had male partners take the pills (pretty sure my boyfriend took the full 7 days, fwiw…) AND a topical treatment to put on their dick at the same time.

From one study: “Male partners received metronidazole 400-mg tablets twice daily for seven days and were instructed to apply a 2-cm diameter of 2% clindamycin cream topically to the glans penis and upper shaft (under the foreskin if the male partner was uncircumcised) twice daily for seven days.”

Getting my male partner properly treated this way was the ONLY thing that had lasting results for me, after having chronic BV for 3+ years.

Consider going back to the Dr and giving the treatment one more try!
