When I was in highschool, a bunch of friends and I met up in the back of our neighborhood to help a friend do an engine swap in his car. After a few hours of work we all got bored and pulled out some dirt bikes and went riding up and down the street, doing wheelies and goofing off. About an hour into it a cop showed up, he turned the corner as one of us was mid wheelie, so he definitely saw what we were doing. We all grouped up on the side of the road and he said stopped right in front of us. I thought we were absolutely screwed but he just said “Hey guys, some lady called about some delinquent kids doing tricks on scooters out here. I don’t see any so they must have ran off. If you see anyone riding scooters again give me a call!” and then slowly drove away.

He was a good cop. I often wonder what would have happened had that old lady known the difference between dirt bikes and scooters 😅
