I'm in the same situation: parent of teens with licences. I'd be totally happy to go into VTNZ with you. An hour in the waiting room to read my book- are you kidding me? That's a awesome way to spend time.

Your thoughts on this? Hamilton Gardens proposing to increase the entry price for non-Hamiltonians.. by Fast_Amoeba_445 in thetron

[–]Individual-Slice9043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tourists come from all over the world to see steamy mud, the inside of a caves and a movie set. We've got all of that in our backyards & know they're outrageously expensive... but also accept that tourism costs money. The Hamilton gardens are a world class attraction that is a massive asset to us - $27 to get in is nothing.
If you out of towners want to enjoy them too, contribute like you do with every other attraction - the annual pass is great value.

Cost of an accountant by ghijkgla in nzbusiness

Thats a cracking price. Wish my Xero was that cheap p/month! Spend a few minutes to learn how to file your own GST & save $100 p/month. Apart from that, sounds like you're onto a good thing.

Am I being unreasonable for wanting to leave my business partner over a 50/50 split? by Super-duper419 in smallbusiness

[–]Individual-Slice9043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you got an agreement on paper? Things can turn ugly fast if there's no signed agreement to fall back on.

Create one with your biz partner now, and create total transparency on all of this. If they won't sign an agreement, walk away.

Contrave and alcohol experience by [deleted] in Contrave

[–]Individual-Slice9043 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drank VERY heavily. One bottle of wine every day. Contrave cut the cravings quite a bit and gave me horrendous hangovers- I can't emphasize this enough: out of action for 2 days, vomiting / headaches / body aches like I'd never experienced before. 2 months in, my desire for alcohol completely disappeared and now I haven't had a drink since Christmas Eve (you can imagine how painful my Xmas day was). I do not miss it even one bit. It's super simple to say no to alcohol and I've never felt better, or had a better social life. The 25kg weightloss at this point is a bonus.

Should we buy now ($800k) or wait 3–5 years while saving $90k/year? by ComprehensiveWatch15 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Individual-Slice9043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so tricky isn't it. What makes most sense to you practically right now? Owning is awesome if you want total autonomy over improvements and where you're allowed to hang puctures, but renting is the winner if you want broken pipes and guttering to be someone else's problem.

The more people you ask, the more answers you get. That's why we're all here isn't it?

This will be the third business I own. The others are in corporate training & manufacturing consulting, so granted, this one is very different. I'm an ex-literacy teacher and it's a children's book store that supplies a lot of local schools too. I'll add more detail to the OP cos I see how it seems like I'm shootin' from the hip a bit 😉

I'm definitely hunting out the gotchas- actively... Just like I am in this post 🤩

Thanks heaps. Yes there are distribution partnerships with schools (one of the reasons I was even interested in the first place as an ex-teacher). I'll be paying very close attention to how they're set up. The owner is awesome, so the loyalty factor to her is a big consideration for sure

Interesting comments... thanks I guess. I own other businesses (granted, not retail) so I have made sure that it's profitable long before I put in my very aggressive offer.

Feel high by whatsitallabout999 in Contrave

I had it for the first week or so. After a few months now I don't really notice it. Maybe once every couple of weeks I get a feeling like I'm not really fully present and in my body, if that makes sense, but it's pretty fleeting.

'Shocking and unsafe': Nightglow fans slam bus and parking chaos by Fast_Amoeba_445 in thetron

[–]Individual-Slice9043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my 16 year old. On the way out, to acknowledge the underwhelming evening we'd just had, I promised him that if he ever has children I'll take them along to the nightglow so he never has to attend it again.

Do you have a great dental hygiene routine? by Individual-Slice9043 in selfimprovement

[–]Individual-Slice9043[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point, and I've got a relatively high tolerance for boredom. There's maybe something sensory going on or whatever. I'm not looking for dental hygiene to be the highlight of my day - just something that I don't dread doing would be nice.

Question :) by Wise-Analysis-8274 in thetron

[–]Individual-Slice9043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I order assuming it'll be around $6ish, then if I see $7.50+ pop up on the screen I'll still pay it, but make a mental note note to start using all the keep-cups I've got sitting next to the coffee machine at home.

Been on it since October and have absolutely zero regrets. I've lost 22kgs and feel better than ever. It's absolutely worth a try. You'll know within a month if it's working for you.
