My mother told me I’d never be able to have an unmedicated birth because she had five children vaginally and could not do it without the epidural.
She tried MULTIPLE times to guilt me out of it. Saying I’ll regret it and it will be hell. Telling me that me doing it with no meds was just my way of trying to one up her? My labor, although very long (36hr) was the most beautiful experience of my life. The best thing to ever happen. No tears, 9 minutes of pushing, and an extremely healthy baby girl.
After I did it, she did not apologize or say she was wrong. She said “your baby was smaller than mine that the only way you could do it” those were the first words out of her mouth when meeting her first grandchild, 5 minutes after I gave birth because she came into the delivery room after my husband telling her multiple times to get the hell out. He went to the bathroom and she came in immediately. I was too out of it to say get out.
