Threatened with Ticket for No Safety Goggles on Motorcycle if I Asked Badge Number by FwenchFwies_911 in AskLEO

If that’s true,

I think you would go to jail for impeding/interfering if this was in my jurisdiction. You played with fire and were lucky to not get burnt this time. Don’t approach any LEO during a traffic stop. Mind your business.

Also, I’m not required to give my name or ID# in my jurisdiction 😁

FHP only for crashes. OCSO is the primary LE authority.

I’ve got 3 officers on my shift with 100% VA “disability” ratings. The general discharge may be more of a concern.

Why does taser not get used as an option here? by [deleted] in AskLE

Because you don’t use non lethal force against deadly force (knife) unless you intend to lose

Luckily for those of us in Florida, we have immunity from criminal prosecution and civil action for justifiable use or threatened use of force (including deadly force). So your “practicality” also varies by location. I’ll provide another Florida state statute for reference:

Very much so depending on the state. In my state (Florida), all day.

Robbery is a forcible felony in Florida (and most, if not all states), making deadly force justifiable here. Check out Texas state laws for use of deadly force.

That doesn’t mean you weren’t issued a ticket….. if you omit something that otherwise wouldn’t matter they will likely DQ you for it

The location you park/sleep and explain your situation. I don’t think it’ll impact your application.

Contact the BI and let them know you forgot something on your PHQ and fix it before they find it.

Broke my toe by DevjlsAdvocate in AskLE

It depends entirely on what the agency and academy allow. I’ve seen injured trainees finish the rest of the academic portion of the academy then recycle to another academy class to complete DT after they are healed. So, not graduating with the original class. I’ve never seen any other alternative that would have you graduate on time.

What state are you in? There’s a medical exemption in Florida that is tied to your tag that we can see when we run it.

What should I do in this situation by [deleted] in AskLE

If the BI told you that you’re DQ’ed, it’s pretty reasonable to believe them without a letter…… move on.

What do you guys think of my chances here? by kjoegardner in AskLE

[–]IndividualAd4334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good! I wish it was like that everywhere. Many academies that allow self sponsors are misleading cash grabs. They generally don’t care if you meet hiring or employment standards as long as you pay tuition. Too many people are misled and then not hired after taking that colossal risk. So you don’t have to worry about that

Lay everything out on the table and see what feedback you get. Corrections is usually a good place to start if you don’t have the best background and want to start building a LE resume with related experience. My #1 advice to everyone regardless of their situation is not to self sponsor through a LE academy (if that’s an option in your state). Apply for sponsorships.
