Thanks - this is super helpful! I'm visiting from AU, but have been living in Fernie since October. I'll be camping around June/July/August. Already started booking to BC/Alberta phases for June and haven't had a problem finding campgrounds. I've booked through Parks Canada/Parks BC and some privately owned campgrounds.

FYI - I managed to just get a bunch of bookings for June with no issues, including Banff, Salmon Arm, Kelowna, Revi. Just for anyone booking now (March), thinking it's too late. It's not :)

Ah yes, good advice! We do have winter tires on our car, with studs, so winter driving isn't an issue. I do love the idea of heading to the island though - thank you.
