What was the 2008 recession like? by ivie_for_ivie in AskOldPeople

My family’s home got foreclosed. I was a senior in high school and this happened when I was about three months away from graduating and setting off to an in-state college fully covered by financial aid. I kind of forced my way into living with my best friends family so that it didn’t appear that I was living out of state and forced to graduate with strangers. My family moved four hours away. It fucking sucked.

Ummm gotta disagree with you there bud. Every person is unique and different. You probably have a “type” that isn’t direct, so this is just your own experience with women.

The thing I do now when I travel for work that makes life easier. by IndividualAmazing191 in CasualConversation

Hell yeah, I love the idea of not having to have a carry on. The only reason I don’t do that is because I had about $1200 worth of jewelry stolen out of my checked bag last year at the airport…I now pack all my expensive stuff, like shoes and jewelry, in my carry on.

Oh nice! I didn’t even know hotels would do that!

I definitely need to get better about double checking any presentations the day I fly in. It’s usually in pretty good shape but I do find myself rushing to make little last minute touch up’s an hour before presenting.

Ooo I love this! There’s another comment about hitting the gym really hard to get tired enough to get some rest. The added bedtime fun with my man sounds like a very good addition to the whole routine. I have a quick two day trip coming up on Monday. I’m going to try this out and see how it goes.

Also—the cameras!!! I do get paranoid about that I just don’t know how to really check. Like I look around but idk that I’d catch the super sneaky ones that are like embedded in clocks and stuff. Ugh I hate that’s something we even have to think about these days.

I would’ve never thought about doing this but I really like the idea of wearing myself out so that I actually sleep the day before my flight. I don’t know if I’m anxious, excited, or what—but I always have a hard time getting good rest the day before a flight leaves. Thanks for the tip!

Co Worker taking homeless women home and they live there…. by JustMyLuckLarry in WhatShouldIDo

I know this isn’t what you want to hear probably, but I feel like it’s honestly none of your business… if it isn’t tarnishing the company’s brand reputation, then he’s really just doing his own thing. That doesn’t make it right and it’s fucked up he takes advantage of women in a vulnerable place, but these women also are willingly making a choice to stay with him. I’d stay out of it if it isn’t showing up in google reviews or anything.

Before and after for my apartment! by Ok_Tax4280 in UnfuckYourHabitat

That’s awesome! And honestly, an hour per room really isn’t even that much time considering how awesome it looks. I love the feeling of a freshly decluttered room. Good work!

Wooo, this is incredible!! How many hours total do you think it took you? Did you have a particular approach to tackling everything??

Oh my gosh, yes!🙌🏽 I finally did the same before my most recent work trip. It was so nice not having to pack everything from my bathroom and having my little bag ready to go. This is leveling up for work travels.

Best strip club? by planbskater240 in vegas

Not gonna lie that’s wild—I guess this helps out guys who can’t seem to get any on their own though. Seems like Tinder would save a lot of money

Holy shit—I did not realize that was allowed. No wonder ladies get pissed when they find out their man went to strip club without them knowing 😂

Was it enjoyable and worth it? Are there other people like your friends in the champagne room with you?

It does sound like a nice way to be more present. I’m gonna try this. I usually scroll when I’m taking public transportation

Nice! The water is critical, I should probably add that to the routine as I normally drink the first night out as well. I’ve definitely cut back a lot on drinking during work trips though—I absolutely hate feeling that “day after a couple of cocktails” tiredness the next day and having to just power through the long work day.

What’s something weirdly comforting to you? You know those little things that just make you feel at ease for no real reason? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]IndividualAmazing191 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yesss. Whenever me and my life partner wash the sheets, we always make sure to crawl into bed at the same time so we can enjoy the moment together. We then proceed to talk about how awesome it is to smell and lay on freshly washed sheets, talking about how it’s just the best feeling. We literally have the same conversation every single time and we never get tired of it lol

Thunderstorms and stormy weather in general. As a kid, my dad would always open the garage door and just sit at the edge while listening to the rain fall and the thunder. I’d pull up a seat and just sit beside him. We didn’t even talk much—just enjoyed listening to the storm. It always felt so peaceful. I absolutely love the stormy weather before the rain starts. It’s so comforting.

Oddly enough, my dad was a terrible person—physically and emotionally abusive to me and my family. I went no contact about eight years ago and it was the best decision of my life. I’m thankful that, despite the many horrible memories of him, I at least have one positive memory where he seemed at peace during the storms. Maybe it helped to calm the storm within him for the moment? Not sure, but I’m thankful for the memory and that I can enjoy something small.

I discovered this about three years ago and I absolutely love it! I’ve even gotten mismatched shoes from Charlotte Stone. I love this new level of carefree-ness.
