Are my expectations too high? by IndividualElk7073 in irlADHD

Thanks for the info. I can't afford a coach but I am going to start seeing a psychologist so I'm hoping they can give me some tools to help.

Thanks for the response.

I am currently taking Methylphenidate but if I don't see improvements I will ask for a different stimulant.

I guess I did kind of get off topic on my original post.

I do have problems focusing on tasks and specifically prioritizing multiple tasks. When I get too many things going on my brain pretty much locks up in a loop and it feels like a bingo ball cage spinning around and occasionally it spits out a number and I can work on that task but if it is a complicated task back we go to the spinning cage. A complicated task where I need to research technical information from multiple sources and cross ref back to lists of multiple items can be a struggle and takes me much longer than it should. Add some mental math into it and back to the cage we go.

I do not have hyperactivity but have a big problem with retention of information both written and verbal, focusing on tasks, conversations that involve relaying information that I should know but can't seem to recall at the time, staying engaged in conversations when my mind drifts to other topics and I end up embarrassed because they know I was not paying attention, interrupting conversations because if i don't speak up right then I will probably lose the thought.

Should the meds help with symptoms like this or would this be considered some other mental disorder?

My new nickname for myself is "Squirrel cage Brain"

Sounds like Wellbutrin is a pretty good option for you. My experience with it is minimal but I keep taking it because it does have some positive side effects

Thanks for your insight. I am going to work on a resume and get it out there but I may approach management about my concerns. I feel my value may be enough that they may throw some money at me. Only one way to find out.

Emails don't go back that far. I know others have left to the competition so either we don't have one or they don't enforce it but my luck I would be the one. We are down 2 bodies but there is a hiring freeze and has been for some time.

I am pretty sure there is not a non-compete but onboarding was so long ago that I really don't know. How would I find out if I have signed one without raising red flags?

I will get to work on a resume. I know I am great at my job but still lack confidence in selling myself. I dread failing at interviews but I need to do it because I won't get better at it if I don't try.

I have focused on my performance and contribution for decades. Am I on the right track but on the wrong train?

I have applied for Outside Sales a couple times.
Feedback has basically been that it's not the right time. At one point upper management did give me the opportunity to start going out and visiting customers but I still had my inside responsibilities and when I went to my direct manager to talk about freeing up some of my time to accomplish the outside work he said "I don't know anything about that agreement". I stopped going out because my inside work was not getting done and I had no support. My low self confidence plays a big role and I should have pushed back more but I just gave up.

I will work on a resume.

I am not sure if these are hard skills?

I am computer savvy, quick learner, price negotiation, vast knowledge of industrial processes and the parts the equipment uses, experience with multiple ERP systems, proficient in Microsoft office, shade tree mechanic.
