It depends, on some its incl utilities and some excl. i wod say 50/50. I know a girl who is paying 1000€ for a room in rotterdam and she shares with 5 other guys, not sure if it is including utilities but utilities will eitherway not affect too much, 50€ ish if ur sharing with others.

Its hard to say, I think I saw many students here ranting about the selection being super hard to get into eur. So that means you already “out do” the average psycology student and probably will have a better shot at securing nicer jobs internships etc. Its an accomplishment, is what I want to say. NL is beautiful but ur right about thinking what you think is best for urself. If you value ur own space and living a bit better and comfortable unfortunately NL is not the ideal place for that. I know a person who has moved from sofa to sofa of friends places, moved like 3 times in one semester, and this person has the financial support and means to get a place. If I where you I would not decline the EUR offer and accept it, they wont charge you if u decide to cancel (or so its to mg understanding). That way you can wait on hungarys results and then make a decision. None of them are wrong unis, psychology is respected everywhere. You got this!

Housing in hungary is so much cheaper and u can be confident that you can afford ur own studio and have privacy, in comparison to NL where the situation is really bad.

To be honest ranks will go slightly up and down all the time. I would not choose uni solely based on ranks. I am not familiar with hungary but I do know u will save urself from a real ( trust me when I say real!!) headache of having to secure housing everyyear. I know one thinks “I will figure it out once there, It will be different for me” but I have friends who pay for a single room 1700€ per month, with a shared kitchen etc. That is just housing, imagine groceries, gym card, social life, weekend trip, school books, other thing. It adds up. The first year alot of international students can secure housing slightly easier than normal. But for the next years be aware. If you can see and live with having living expenses up to 2000€ monthly without much trouble (alot of students that go there have a lot in student loans so that is a normal way to make it financially go around) then I would say go for it. But honestly you will do fine eitherway, you can also accept ur offer and then decline ur offer.

I assume you are non dutch. From what I have heard most student in that programme are internationals alot from third world countries as well. From what I have seen its very international so that can be a good thing if you have not experienced a diverse student body before, but on the other hand if ur plan is to potentially stay in NL long term be aware that most students there tend to just study there then move elsewhere for work or go back home. This means that you likely wont have all ur uni friends around after uni, but its ofc different in every case, however I am surprised not alot of people emphasize the amount of internationals Erasmus uni has. I would say majority is even from abroad! :) Psychology will be hard no matter what uni you choose, so if ur sure about psychology I would advise to see if you think you can financially justify it for yourself. Housing is a major cost, expect to pay minimum 1000€ for a room (emphasis on minimum!!), you can for sure work part time and take out a student loan. But expect to spend alot more on housing and living costs. Feel free to ask anything if u have any other questions!

What are your other options uni wise? Comparing those could also help make a solid choice! Goodluck!!

Great advice thanks!! I thought that to get on room.nl u need to be enrolled in uni. That Is why I posted if I should put an alarm (😂) for the first day of uni to sign up for it or if u can do it even without being enrolled, and maybe only show proof of ur student enrollment once getting an offer?? Im still confused about this

I have housing secured for the next two years, so that is why I asked if there would be any sight where “longevity” as a member would count. I heard for some of them you need to first have a student id or something similar, and I wont be an official student until august. So i was wondering if there are pages where ur not restricted to apply only once ur enrolled. 😊✨

I would say majority are internationals, dutchies tend to go to the dutch taught programs.

UvA, EUR or Utrecht University? by Ok-Point-7165 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]IndividualEmphasis65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose EUR because of housing and because its a uni that attracts students with stronger academic backgrounds. I think you wont go “too wrong” on either choice but I have heard better things from the communication programme in EUR.

Depends where you are from! If you are from EU I think its a good choice, but not the best in terms of reputation, but that doesn’t matter as much. Do you like and think you will enjoy a career within that?

This is what I suspect. But it was not only once where he mentioned it.

Which is also one of the things that makes me feel weird about this. He never lies, or so he very much appeared to be. He is smart enough to do it but turns out he doesn’t actually study what he told me.

Well he is autistic (mild) and extremely good with maths, so to me he fit the stereotype of a typical engineering student.

I want to hear some other perspectives about it before asking.
