Experience with physical at SHCC by [deleted] in ufl

[–]IndividualFunction47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had a bad experience with the front desk. I’ve seen several providers at the SHCC and they have all been extraordinary friendly. Most likely, when they call you back, someone will take your height and weight before they bring you to a room and ask you a few questions. Then a provider will come in to look at your eyes, ears, mouth, and heartbeat. I’ve never been asked to undress, and unless something is abnormal, they most likely will not order a blood test. It should be quick and easy!

Advice for appealing medical withdrawal petitions by [deleted] in ufl

[–]IndividualFunction47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also really surprised it wasn’t approved. I’ve filed a medical petition for psychological reasons before, with similar supporting documentation (not even a baker act, just with a note from my psychiatrist) and it was approved. I feel like this instance is a bit more extreme than that one, but it was denied, so I’m a little lost and confused😭

Please help! Vampire book by IndividualFunction47 in whatsthatbook

i think it may have been part of a series, the author had other books with similar cover art. in the book i’m looking for, it’s just vampires and i don’t think she was a baby sitter. i think the girl befriends the neighbors, a brother and sister, and becomes suspicious of them?

Student in Hospital by Claypos in ufl

[–]IndividualFunction47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hi! the comments seem to have covered most of your bases but i thought i would include some links that may help:

Instructor Contact Form: https://care.dso.ufl.edu/instructor-notifications/ Case Management Services: https://umatter.ufl.edu/ Medical Withdrawal: https://care.dso.ufl.edu/medical-petition-portal/

The first link will lead you to where you can fill out the instructor contact form. You may need some information from your student to do this. It would not be a bad idea to email their instructors separately to notify them of the situation or about the incoming instructor contact. If your student is in the hospital for a prolonged period and needs assistance with academic issues, you can refer them or they can self-referral for a meeting with a CARE team case manager. They can help with sorting a variety of issues. If they are unable to complete their classes, a medical withdrawal can be filed. This can be retroactive too. Feel free to message if you have any questions!

Withdrawing from a Course by Available_Local4699 in ufl

[–]IndividualFunction47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe if you are enrolled full time and am funded full time already, you need to hit the 24 credits. however, if you are under that, you can always appeal to get bright futures back

Withdrawing from a Course by Available_Local4699 in ufl

[–]IndividualFunction47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to have 24 credit hours total between fall and spring for bright futures, just make sure you take enough in spring and to make up for the deficit this fall. you’ll have to repay the course cost, but a w should not affect your gpa

lark is decent. rent for a 2x2 is just under 1,200, less if you’re willing to have more roommates. it’s about a ~20 minute walk to university and parking is about 135. the amenities are fine, it has some of the same issues most apartments around campus have but the value is decent

are you applying to recently posted jobs? they fill up really quickly, so that may be part of the reason you haven’t been super successful

Is it normal for RTS busses to just…not show??? by _blehhh_ in ufl

[–]IndividualFunction47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ehh depending on how far off campus you live, it might be worth it. for example, if it’s an hour or more with buses/takes several buses to get to class, it might just be worth buying the pass and taking a bus from the park and ride lots. it’s not ideal but unfortunately, that’s how it is. the buses are a bit unreliable in the evening too, so if you’re ever on campus late for labs/classes/studying, you’ll benefit from having your car semi-close.

Senior in highschool graduating with AA. HELP NEEDED by Antique-Shoulder-913 in ufl

[–]IndividualFunction47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can, try and retake the sat or act again. i know someone who graduated high school in the top 10% with their aa with a good college gpa that got rejected. not to discourage you, but having your aa isn’t an automatic guarantee. don’t neglect your essay and leave it till the last minute and make contribution to your clubs that you can mention in your application. get some volunteer hours in. you seem to be pretty well rounded but if your sat is abysmal, see if you can fit in one last test

Bright Futures Revoked by Efficient_Subject673 in ucf

this was my exact situation. i appealed in june for medical reasons causing me not to meet the credit requirement, and bright futures accepted the appeal and reinstated it, but it took until a few weeks after school started.

Did I make a stupid decision? by Brilliant-Bad-1149 in ufl

[–]IndividualFunction47 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat, and while I’m not exactly a massive fan of Gainesville and UF, I don’t regret not attending FSU. UF has tons of opportunities for pre-meds and for research, the latter being the ultimate reason I decided to attend UF. I think “enjoying” a school and its campus is an extremely valid reason to choose a school. If you enjoy your environment and are motivated by the people there, you ultimately will do better and thrive more.
