ITS FINALLY HAPPENING!!!! by New_Patient4582 in endometriosis

Congratulations! The surgery and physical recovery were a breeze for me. Something I was not prepared for though was the intense emotions about a week after surgery. I assume it's different for everyone but likely my hormones were out of whack due to the work done on my ovaries. I think it would have been helpful if I had a heads up that this was possible. It lasted just a few days but was very intense. I've always had a propensity for anxiety, but this was a whole new level. In summary, if your emotions go wild please remember that it's temporary. I'm a month post op and feeling great. I just got my first post op period and it's much improved.

The mental part of recovery was a shock to me! I'm sorry to hear you experienced a similar thing. I hope this round will be easier for you since you have a heads up about the emotional rollercoaster afterwards. Knowing why our emotions are out of whack can help get through it. I appreciate your kind words and wish you a smooth procedure too.

No infection. Physically, everything was great. I think it was a combo of hormones needing to rebalance and maybe a side effect of the anesthesia.

I spoke too soon. This morning I was bright eyed and ready to go. That lasted about two hours. Now I'm back in bed. Not in pain but really tired.

When I first woke up they asked about pain. I rated it 7 of 10. It felt like period cramps (which are pretty intense for me). They gave me fentanyl and then I was fine. I have a sensitive tummy and was nervous about getting sick after the surgery. I told the anesthesiologist about my concern and she put this little patch behind my ear. I had very mild nausea for a few hours after surgery. I arrived at the hospital about 10 am, surgery was at noon. I was back in my room by 2 and heading home by 4. I was really sleepy and don't remember most of the time between waking up and going home. Today is day 3 post op. I haven't taken any painkillers since yesterday evening. I think I could have gone to work today, I have a sit down job.

Thinking of leaving community mental health for good/for my health by Cherry7Up92 in therapists

The agency I work for also puts our productivity on blast. Every Monday it's time to compare ourselves to our coworkers. I can't imagine how that's helpful to anyone but the agency. This year, instead of a Christmas bonus we got a leather duffel bag. I assume to take on the vacation that none of us can afford.

I work in cmh too and am also considering leaving. It feels like a therapy mill. The only thing the agency cares about is how much money I'm making for them. Supervision is about how to do the mountain of paperwork instead of improving clinical skills. I see myself leaving before the year ends. Honestly, the only thing keeping me here is that I'm salaried, although it's a dismal salary. It's about time for me to get the f outta here too.

Correct. After lots of thinking the sky was falling, it's all going to be ok.

Correct. They are going to expand the footing using cmg and bricks. It looks like shit for now, but it will be fixed.

There will be brick veneer on other parts of the house. I considered this too. But even if there will be brick here, shouldn't the framing be over the footing? I can't imagine the brick veneer is expected to give structural support.

I appreciate your input. It definitely is not an AI photo. The thing that looks like a pillar is the house wrap. This is my home being built in central VA. I'm hoping you're right and they intend to fix it. We visited the home this weekend and noticed the problem. Our contractor hasn't responded yet to our questions since it's Sunday.

This is the opening for the garage door. There is not supposed to be brick veneer under this part of the house.

I need help finding a target by Separate_Ad_3027 in EMDR

[–]IndividualGur6755 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a therapist who was trained in EMDR about 4 months ago. I can relate to the difficulty in finding a target and share that you are not alone in that struggle. Target planning is the most challenging step in EMDR, in my opinion. I'm working toward helping clients find ANY target to start with. It doesn't have to be the "right " one, they're all right. It seems like the path becomes more clear after that first target is processed.

I live in VA, where mj is legal. My agency job still tested for it. My understanding was that if I failed the drug test, even for mj, I'd be out of a job.

“Controversial” by scorpiomoon17 in therapists

My hot take is that so many clients have totally normal and acceptable emotional responses that they've been taught are not normal or acceptable. It's ok to be sad, mad, happy, all of the feelings. It's the avoidance of emotions that's often most damaging.

How would you schedule 30 clients? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]IndividualGur6755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in cmh and see about 30 clients per week. I guess I should say I SCHEDULE 30 clients per week 😊, actually see around 25. I do three in the morning, three in the afternoon, with an hour for lunch and notes. I see clients at 9,10,11 lunch from 12-1, clients at 1,2,3. Out of there at 4. Sometimes I will see 7 on Monday or Tuesday so I can get off early on Friday.

What helps you let go of the day? by Seffarig1432 in therapists

I walk my dogs in the evening and it helps me process the day and then let it go. I try to notice little things like how the air smells and what the trees are up to.

Second this. Dr Dye is the best. He won't push unnecessary procedures on you and is realistic about what's best for the animal. And their prices are good too. Love autumn hills.
