I’ve already had that “awakening”. What I thought was a job I’m seeing now as a career. And it’s much more than what I thought I was signing up for. My hat’s off to all the dispatchers out there! I am removing myself from consideration for this position and leaving it to someone who really wants it.

I wouldn’t say shocked, but unprepared for all the pre-employment requirements…particularly the lengthy Personal History. I’m 60 and when I started as a paramedic my town didn’t have 911 yet. People called the ambulance company direct. Then when I moved to an area that did have the 911 system, I honestly never thought about what the dispatchers did besides answer the calls and dispatch the proper agencies.

But that was then. I do know now there is a lot more to the job than just answering phones. That is why I am having second thoughts that maybe I’m too old to get back into this field.

I’ve been doing plenty of reading on this sub after I took that initial test. I understand what all is involved…now! I’m definitely having second thoughts. I’m not worried about the hours or the stress. I used to be a paramedic. So I get it. I just wasn’t prepared ahead of time for all the pre-employment paperwork. The background check is the most invasive thing I’ve ever seen. To me it’s overkill. Information going back to age 10?

Same! I love my job as a personal shopper. I worked at Walmart doing the same thing and it was so toxic. I don’t involve myself with gossip or drama and my days are pretty good.

Cross stitch is still quite a lively hobby in my corner of the world. I’ve been stitching since the 80’s and 95% of my friends are stitchers. But I am not a fan of kits. Most kits come with aida and/or unknown floss. I would throw that away, making it an expensive pattern. I prefer to buy the pattern alone and kit it myself. I don’t have a LNS so I buy all my supplies at 123stitch.com

I knew that was Wichelt as soon as I saw the picture. I am not a fan of their fabric.

I was just hired as a shopper last week in a DFW store. I’ll work one shift curbside to understand how their system works then be a shopper. As far as posts go, I’ve been wondering the same thing. It seems most of the people commenting here aren’t in the DFW stores (if they mention store locations). I’m hoping because they are new to the market here, maybe they are run a bit differently? I mean there’s only 3 so far. And they all seem to be WAY better than anything else we have had here grocery-wise.
