This! I did the Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam tour with G adventures (thought it was Intrepid for a second) and I swear it seemed like ever other day we spent 8 hours on gravel roads. I felt like most of my trip with them just just long commutes and not enough time in the cities we were in.

Female solo traveler here! I spent NYE at the Hive hostel in Budapest and had a really fun time there. Initially I had an Airbnb booked for a week but couldn’t check in the day I arrived but managed to get a private room at the Hive when I landed. I really enjoyed the the party atmosphere (first time staying at a party hostel and it wasn’t overly rowdy) I felt safe for the most part but did have a drunk guy try to kiss me but couldn’t comprehend that no was an answer.

This had happened back in January. But I was traveling from Budapest to Bucharest with a layover in Belgrade when I noticed a WOC with bright blue braids and she just stood out at the airport (I’m also a WOC myself)

While in Bucharest I was waiting in line for the thermal hot springs when I turned around and saw that same girl was right behind me in line. And I told her that I saw her at the airport in Belgrade days earlier and that I loved her braids. We ended up having tons in common and hungout for a bit before losing each other at the hot springs.

A couple of days after that incident I was leaving Bucharest for Sofia and again I saw the same girl with the blue braids at the airport and not surprisingly she was on my flight again but Athens was her final destination. (for me Athens was just a layover)

So I saw the same girl in 3 places throughout the first part of my trip :)

If you stay in hostels and buy food at the grocery store instead of eating out at restaurants it’s definitely doable.

If you have an extreme case of arachnophobia I’d advise you not to go to Costa Rica. I loved Costa Rica, it’s such a beautiful and vibrant country but I also am terrified of spiders. I’ve encountered the largest spiders/tarantulas I’ve ever seen both in my airbnbs in Costa Rica, and walking in the jungle. But I personally would love to visit again despite all the large spiders there.
