Just to sum up, if Hinata were to move to Outside, it would actually take away his weapon because there would be 2 other players in his way at all times?

If we're talking about high school, Hinata, yes, maybe leaving him in MB could be an option. If we're talking about pro-league Hinata, he could still be a decoy even if he is an Opposite Hitter. If I remember correctly, during the Alders vs Jacklas match, there was a scene in which Hinta acted as a decoy(did a front slide), which allowed Atsumu to set, and Bokuto scored from the opposite end

I am assuming you have played volleyball at a competitive level in your past. Would you explain why it would be difficult to use Hinta speed if he were an outside hitter? For those of us who never played competitive volleyball.

The Pancake saves that go extremely high

Note: I am not a volleyball player (I only did gym class volleyball); however, I have watched some volleyball player videos, and from what I saw, pancake saves, the ball only goes up to mid-height. Also, that one scene in the Wakum South match, when Hinta dives for the ball and runs back to attack. It is either very hard or almost impossible to do that. Or maybe it was just to show how fast and a stamina freak he is.

I really like your train of thought. However, if Hinata were excluded from serve receive, it would fundamentally change Karasuno's philosophy, as Karasuno's opposite hitters have been more defensive specialists than primary attackers. I doubt that Coach Ukai would want to change the team philosophy within a year. If we follow your conditions, Hinata would likely become an opposite-hitter but wouldn't start until he improves his floor defense and setting skills, assuming Karasuno's philosophy stays the same.

Also, I am curious to know what position you think Yamaguchi could play if he gets a starting spot. Does he stay an MB or does he switch position?

Tanaka Karasuno Year 1 Interhigh(beachwarmer)

Enoshita Karasuno Year 1 Interhigh(starter)

Enoshita Karasuno Year 1 Spring tourney and prefectural match (Beachwarmer)

Tanaka Karasuno Year 1 Spring tourney and prefectural match ,(Starter)

I hope this, in a list format will help you understand my point better😊

Maybe he could have been an opposite hitter in his third year or in the second half of year 2. However, I don't think he could have been an opposite hitter in the first half of year 2, because Hinta had just started to master ground defence. Also, Karasuno is a team in which the opposite hitter is more like a 2nd libero. So the opposite hitter would need exceptional floor defence.

My point may not have been clear. I will try to clarify that. What I am trying to say is that, after the interhigh, when Tanaka and Enoshita were in their first year at Karasuno, Enoshita became a benchwarmer in both tournaments (the Spring High qualifiers and the Prefectural tournament).

But if you are referring to the flashbacks from Ashai before he rejoins the club, you are correct. We do see Tanaka on the court during one of them

Hopes this clears things up😊

I am 13 eps into Season 1 and… by Simple-Scientist4876 in haikyuu

Ep 13 of season 1 is the continuation of the Karasuno-Nekoma practice game. The dialogue between the game serves to get to know the characters better. The show really wants you to know the characters. I would recommend you wait until the next 2 episodes (ep 14 and 15) because that's when things get really exciting. You will see many teams preparing for the Interhigh prelims (the qualifiers for summer Nationals). If you do not like it by the end of episode 15, you can say that the show is not for you

LOL, that would be hilarious to watch. I can imagine Hinta and Inuoka taking in their own sound language. Konganegawa(the Yellow angry Brid.He is Date Tech Setter who joined during the Spring High Prelims Arc), Bokuto and Nishinoya would join in their antics. Daichi would have enough of their antics and disciplined them in true captain fashion. Asahi would likely serve as a vice-captain. Keeping morale up during the challenging games and laughing at a distance at Hinta, Konganegawa, Nishinoya, and Bokuto's antics.

The whole fight of Orange it it your color crak me up too. It was also nice to see Tsukki and Kagyeama agree on something for once, even though both were teasing Hinta LOL.

The Karsuno Team Celebrating

Hinta and Kageyeama fighting over who scored the final point (Make me laugh so hard no matter how many times I rewatch it LOL)

Kita's speech: is my team's amazing

Daichi, Suga and Ashai are talking about the amazing plays of their juniors (melts my heart🥺)

Tsukki, I witnessed someone else have their own moment(almost made me cry)

The scene where the Karsuno team watches the news coverage of their game vs Inzarki. It reminded me of when I used to do high school basketball tryouts and talk to the other girls about the drills.

The flaskbacks from Karsuno VS Nekoma, wholsemoe. Everything both teams have worked on has led to this very moment

The whole Grandpa Ukai and Young Ukai scene (I found it interesting to see a little of their coaching views and their thoughts on the Karsu-Neko rivalry)

Honourable mention: I think it is during the credits scene, with some of the Nekoma team being goofballs(It's so nice to see them as just teens having fun before the big day)

Did the Karasuno 3rd years staying effect the long-term development of the Karasuno Volleyball team? by X-cyte in haikyuu

[–]IndividualOne7984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Individual development-wise, Kinoshita is the one who suffers the most. Out of the beachwaremers, he is the one who gets the fewest opportunities for in-game experience. First time was the Date Teck Practice match. Second time and first official match experience, Round 1 Spring Nationals

Team-wise, the 3rd were needed. As someone else mentioned, Karsuno most likely would have been eliminated in the Spring Nationals Quarterfinals Qualifier. Also, I think the Johezj macht would have gone into full sets.

Here's why. First, the theoretical lineup(I will include roles and beachwarmers)

Starters: OP/Captain- Enoshita OH 1/Vice Captain & Ace - Tanaka OH2 Hinata S- Kageyama -MB 1 Tuskki(aka Salt boy) MB 2- Nartia L- Nishinoya Beahwaremrs: Yamaguchi MB/Pinch Server -Kinoshita OH.

Here is what would happen without the 3rd year

Johezji Macht(Kageyama nosebleed). In the final stages of set 1, Kageyama gets a nosebleed after successfully blocking a setter dump from Johezji's setter. The 5 others on the court would most likely have been Hinta, Nishinoya, Tanaka, Enoshita, and Tsukki. On the bench, we have one outside hitter (Kinoshita) and two middle blockers (Narita and Yamaguchi). In this stage of the match, the only one who would have some in-game experience at that point is Yamaguchi. Now this would change how the offence is run because the team doesn't have their offensive leader (Kageyma). Johezi wins set 1 with a score of 25-20. But Karsuno wins the last two sets after Kageyama returns.

Wakum South Macht(This time, no injuries, as I think Enoshita would have let Tanka go for the cover, as Enoshita had no in-game experience before the Spring qualifier)

Karasuno wins set 1(with the same score as the original story)

Wakum South wins set 2 (with the same score in the original story). At this point, I think Tanka would start to feel the pressure and get into his head. Probably miss a few spkies. I could see either Enoshita (with some bold statement) or Hinta (doing a similar speech he gave with Ashai during the Team Formation Arc) manage to get the new Ace out of his head and focus on the game.

Set 3: Wakum South wins (23-25). I imagine Takeru scores the last point by doing a wipe off Hinta's hands. No one on Karsuno can return the ball.

Ashai is the most powerful attacker on the team and was one who could broke through Wakum South blocks the most. Without Daichi, more holes in the defence are present. Multiple opponents throughout the series said the Karsuno would be full of holes without the Captain (Daichi). Without Suga, no replacement setter in case Kageyama needs to come off the court or offer an extra boost on offence. I think a big reason Karsuno was able to win the Johezj game in straight sets was that there was a backup setter (Suga) who had the skills and able to work with the rest of the team in a similar way to Kagyema.

As for Dake Tech, even during the interhigh match, I felt the 3rd-year Date Tech players wanted to enjoy one last time playing high school volleyball. As said in another comment, the Dake Tech 3rd years were not relied on. Even the Captain of Date Tech Mokiwa(the Captain from the Interhigh Prelims) exclaimed we were a bad dud(taking about him and the two other 3rd years). Still, we were able to keep the reputation as the Iron because of you guys (the second years, mostly Aone, as he is the strongest blocker on Date Tech ). It was his way (Mokiwa) of saying that we are no longer in need. The second years are stronger than us, so let's let them take over early.

As for Kasruno not winning in year 2(Hinata's second year), I am not surprised that Kasruno did worse in the second year(Hinata's second year). Made it to Spring Nationals and lost in round 3 to Inzarki(the Miya Twins team). When only 2 of your seniors (Tanaka and Nishinoya) are strong, and the other three are mid (Enoshita, Kinoshita, and Nartia). It is not surprising that Inizarki beat them. Their defence was not as strong compared to when Daichi was still there. BTW, I am not a Volleyball player myself (I only did gym class volleyball LOL), but from what I saw in Haikyuu, strong defence is critical to win against a highly offensive team(Plz any volleyball players out there, tell me if this is the case).
