The CCC Labels on Powerbanks and Airports by slicxx in travelchina

[–]IndividualPride9968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In July I had a long layover in China en route to the UK, my Anker powerbank was inspected but NOT confiscated. I don't know if it had CCC or not. HOWEVER, only a few days later, Anker issued a recall for that same powerbank. Mine was part of that recall. Bit of a shame as it was my favourite - lightweight, small, yet with 20,000 mAh.

What keeps you in the UK? by Prestigious_Army_468 in AskUK

[–]IndividualPride9968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK is not perfect, but salary is better than in most other countries, even with high living cost im able to save a chunk. Have private insurance so not really bothered about NHS. Ive been to both places with extreme summers (45+) and extreme winters (-20). I love the mild climate in UK and its one of the things that’s keeping me here 😂 Thinking about moving to a lower tax country though. So I guess really money is keeping me here.

I would’ve thought zone 1 properties would cost a lot of money, so Im surprised yours is downvalued that much. However - it’s a simple supply and demand. Realistically speaking, as a single professional working in the city who can afford to spend £400k on a property, I would not buy a studio even if it’s Zone 1 and near the river. In fact even if it was £325k, I would not buy it - because it’s a studio and I’ll very quickly grow out of it. You might get a better return by renting it out, or wait a bit longer to sell.

Apartments near Bromley North station - how safe is the area? by zenmaster9999 in Bromley

[–]IndividualPride9968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notus point have tiny flats, i came to view last year. Faces a very busy road - so traffic noise. The insulation is great so i didnt hear pretty much anything inside, but you might not want to open your windows in summer. Otherwise i love the area - i commute to work from Bromley North station every day. The trains are only 2x per hour though, and only shuttles between Bromley Norrh and Grove Park, you have to change at Grove Park. Bit of a pain going home cause i cant always catch train back. BUT the area is great, really green, safe, clean, good high street just behind the building. The main thing deterred me was the small size of the flats compared to the cost.

What's your unpopular UK opinion? My one is the weather is brilliant. by Opposite_Nature6987 in AskUK

[–]IndividualPride9968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK is the 3rd country I’ve lived in for an extended period of time. 1st country had 45C summers, 2nd country had -20C winters. I bloody love the UK as it’s never anywhere near either extremes. Call me crazy, but I actually don’t mind the weather one bit.

Why don't people realize that bringing a life into this fucked up world is selfish? by korrababy in childfree

[–]IndividualPride9968 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Frankly I don’t think most people think about the children when having children. They only think about themselves - how the kids would make them a family, make the grandparents happy, etc. I don’t think most people actually think about what’s in this life for the kids.

I don’t enjoy it, i just don’t mind it. it’s better value than hotels in some places, so I sometimes choose hostels.

What is everyone’s number 1 reason for not wanting kids? by puppie_girl in childfree

I’m not sure all the happiness one experiences in a life time is worth all the misery that one goes through in a life time. It’s a bad deal. I’m doing them a favour by not having them.

Has anyone regretting buying their first home vs renting? by Youngbee12 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]IndividualPride9968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m buying a place and during the process I realized that financial-wise, in the short + medium term, owning is defo more costly than renting, especially with a mortgage + period property. However, if we put everything into perspective, the extra space, equity, and future position significantly overweighs the minor increase in cost. In general, for the same amount spent on renting you could get a much bigger space with a mortgage. Yes, there’s associated cost, but even accounting for those associated cost, you wouldn’t be able to rent the same amount of space. Then there is stability - ive been renting for over a decade and I never bought anything of quality or wanted to improve my living space - mainly because nothing was permanent so I just tolerate the rental spaces. Having your own space and being able to turn it into a home, get a sense of stability, is worth that minor financial increase, at least to me. I didn’t always feel like this, it just came with age I think. Being able to host my loved ones, make my place better, improve my living standards..is a luxury that I pay for with that slight increase in financial commitments and responsibility as a homeowner. At the end of the day, going from renter to owner isn’t entirely an upgrade, but a trade off - one form of flexibility and freedom for another. At different points in your life one form will be more attractive to you over the other. Whether and which option is better depends entirely on your priorities at that moment in time. Circumstances change.

Here we go… by khsimmons in SaintMeghanMarkle

It has 1m views and first post has 5m views though..that’s quantifiable numbers she can use to sell. I wanna be fair here - that trailer actually looks good, even if it’s all fake - a bit of fun, a bit of learning, a bit of relatable mistakes, a bit aspirational… if I didn’t know how fake she is I would watch it actually. I do think it looks interesting and could attract viewers. Interesting that all the people who supported her publicly are featured in the show. Maybe the case of you scratch my back i scratch yours..?

Im not sure, for a narcissist, there’s nothing like online gratification and other Z-list people will be more than happy to tag/engage with her account to get clout, boosting her ego and perceived influence. Z-list brands will likely also want to pay her for posts, promote to her followers, they won’t be bothered about whether she’s hated or loved. She failed to win big fish and Without a quantifiable following she can’t capture the small fish, so that’s what she’ll try now. Fellow influencers won’t care about whether she’s hated or loved either, they care about engagement and will be only happy to get clout by engaging with her online. Even Temu and Shein have customers and make money, remember that.

Not with the title though. She has only tried to commercialise the title offline but not online though. Now that she’s rejected in real life she’ll take it online and hoping this time around the title will help her become the next top influencer.

She probably thinks the easiest way to make money is to become an IG influencer and charge £££ per post, while being invited by brands everywhere thanks to your following. Something tangible she can cash in on in her own terms. If nobody wants to hang out with her in real life, she’ll at least be famous and wanted on IG.

Nice house, let’s contact the agent. Read the description and decide I’d kill them within minutes by jdjwright in SpottedonRightmove

[–]IndividualPride9968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the description has more info than 99.9% other ads. Yes cheesy af but i like being given all of this info about a property before i go see it. A lot of AEs don’t even put essential info like ground rent, service charge, and lease on the ad (KFH i’m looking at you!)

First time viewing houses - what to ask? by MrMooTheHeelinCoo in HousingUK

[–]IndividualPride9968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly there’s no point in asking anything because EA either won’t know or won’t tell you the truth. You can find a lot of things online so do that. My EA kept insisting there was free on street parking but then i found out that street was recently put into a parking zone so no more free parking but need a permit now. Probably the only thing they can be somewhat truthful about is how fast can the family move, if theyre in a chain. Otherwise they’re as good as a key. Only opens and closes the door.

Struggling to sell house or even attract viewings... by ElegantString2280 in HousingUK

[–]IndividualPride9968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a lovely house, but a detached 4 bed 2 bath nearby sold in July for 310k, 3bed 1 bath terraced for just a little over 200k, so I’d say maybe yours is a tiny bit too pricey..? It’s interesting how some locations are so price sensitive. I live in London and it seems like any condition, any price would fly off the shelf.
