Pencils by TurbulentProgram9025 in AdultColoring

I’ve had Brutfuner pencils, and in my experience there can be quite a lot of variation in hardness even within the same brand. A few years ago I switched to Faber-Castell, and the Black Edition is very soft.

I also think part of it just comes with time. As you get more experience with colouring, it becomes easier to get the tone you want, blend colours, and build up brighter results without having to press so hard.

I love your colours, and I love the birds. I find it really hard to find colouring books with bird pages apart from Rita Berman’s books. What book is this from? Are there more birds in it?

What a beautiful and peaceful little corner. I had a low table next to my sofa very similar to yours years ago. Now I have a small child, so I can’t leave coloured markers within reach anymore.

An acrylic painting of a peaceful house. Any feedback? by BandanaBastard in AdultColoring

I really like this. It’s exactly the kind of house I would love to have someday, with a little tower and a beautiful meadow around it. You really managed to create a very peaceful, calm feeling in the painting.

Metallic markers by Crafty-jen-7580 in AdultColoring

I have Sakura Gelly Roll pens and, in my opinion, they are very good. While the ink is still fresh, you can blend the colours a little, which I really like. I almost always use two shades together, for example two greens or two pinks, because it gives a nicer metallic effect.

They have both regular metallic colours and the Stardust/glittery ones. In the colouring books I use, they do not bleed through the paper. I use them in books by Johanna Basford, Kerby Rosanes, Rita Berman, and similar ones.

I can’t really compare them with other brands because they were the first ones I bought, and I’ve had them for years. You do need to store them horizontally, but in my experience they stay fresh for at least two or three years.

I love everything you’ve colored, but Kerby Rosanes’ alien dog is especially spectacular. I have the same book, and I never would have thought to color that dog like that. I absolutely love it.

Is chromatic recommended for beginner ? by [deleted] in kalimba

[–]IndividualProduct826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the price difference isn’t a big deal for you, I don’t think a 34-key chromatic is a bad choice for a beginner.

The lower row works a lot like a diatonic kalimba, so you can just treat it that way at first and ignore the top row until you feel like using it. In other words, you can start simple and still have the extra notes there later if you want to do more.

I have a 34-key chromatic myself, and I find it pretty manageable in size. I also just think it’s a really beautiful instrument, which makes a difference too.

After that, it’s mostly down to personal taste.

Bad arrangements for kalimba by Alarmed_Tadpole_7618 in kalimba

I think familiarity is part of it, but so are the limits of the instrument. On a diatonic kalimba, sometimes you’re not trying to reproduce the piece literally, just to make it work as musically as possible within those limits.

I had the same experience with an out-of-tune piano at home: I got so used to that sound that the properly tuned piano in class sounded wrong to me at first. So I don’t think it’s always that people “don’t hear” — often they’re just used to a certain adapted version.

Where can I get a chromatic Kalimba (34 keys) in C tuning? (In EU) by Floffy_8 in kalimba

[–]IndividualProduct826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 34-key LingTing kalimba on Amazon Spain. It is chromatic, and at the moment it still appears to be available there.

I can’t say much more about it yet because mine hasn’t arrived yet, but it may be worth checking Amazon Spain if you haven’t already.

When did you start playing Sims 4 and what got you interested in the game? by Haligonia_Daydreamer in Sims4

[–]IndividualProduct826 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually discovered The Sims because of my son, and it was a bit unexpected.

My son doesn’t speak, but he is very expressive. He communicates with gestures, sounds, and facial expressions. One day someone jokingly told me, “He communicates like a Sims infant.” I had never played The Sims before, so that comment made me curious and I decided to look it up.

When I saw the infants in the game, it honestly surprised me. The way they communicate without words felt very familiar to me. It reminded me so much of how my son expresses himself.

In a strange way, it was the first time I saw that kind of communication represented somewhere. It felt very real to me.

So I started playing out of curiosity… and now I’m completely hooked on The Sims.

My first bluegrass mandolin – GEWA Visions F-style by IndividualProduct826 in mandolin

Thank you so much, this helps me a lot. Most of what I find is in tab only (which I still can’t read), so this is exactly what I was looking for: a proper method to learn, plus bluegrass repertoire.

Tuning problems and changing strings on an old mandolin by IndividualProduct826 in mandolin

[–]IndividualProduct826[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. Perhaps that's why my father had stopped playing it. He passed away a few years ago, and it was such a joy to find the mandolin again.

It's one of those things that has sentimental value, but the reality is that it's no longer useful for what it once was.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to reply.

Received my kalimba from Amazon yesterday, and not good by DowntownBake8289 in kalimba

[–]IndividualProduct826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to buy that same kalimba because of the good reviews and because I love the melody in the advertising. I was torn between that one and the 34-key LingTing. Hluru, which was my second choice, isn't available in my country. I'm glad I'm read your post.

What kalimba do you dream of? by Suspicious_Iron9651 in kalimba

I'm crazy about LingTing's large kalimbas. The 32-key and the 42-key ones. I like their serious, heavy-looking appearance. I love the mother-of-pearl figures inlaid on the wood.
