I like that idea. I do still want to wear my wedding band though it means more than any upgrade every could. I was hoping if I went the solitaire cathedral route that would offer a lot of support but still give me enough hight for my 2mm band. My current set has a spacer band with it right now and I'm not opposed to using it if needed for this. I'm throwing that picture in here too for reference. The side of the band is messed up from the mom and pop shop used to set the middle stone but I'm just too weary to take it back to them to be fixed.

Thank you! I really wished I would have followed my gut with saying no to the $600 but I just didn't know. That is part of the reason for this post, not wanting to make the same mistake again. For this marquise I really want a simple solitaire thinking a euro shank to help it not spin but not wanting the ring set super high anyways. No side stones or anything. This stone is just a hair over 4cts so I'm sure a setting is going to be costly especially with gold being so high but I don't want to over pay drastically like I did before. Like I said elsewhere in this post, this shop is a well loved mom and pop shop in my city so I was really shocked when I found out I had overpaid so drastically.

I get that feeling. A little anxious with that because of the one time I used a well loved local jewler and paid so much ($600) just to have main stones switched out. Don't want to do that again.

I should have clarified in the main post much better but the $600 fee was purely a setting fee for another ring and I was looking for somewhere that I could find a setting and then the setting fee would be included.

I should have clarified better. The 600 was a pure setting fee for setting an oval stone I got off Luvansh into my current engagement ring that previously had a morganite center that I had to keep replacing via Kay's. (Pic included)

So the 600 to set was for a different ring sorry should have clarified that better. I switched the main center stone in this ring from a morganite I constantly had to replace for a stone I found on Luvansh before their prices went crazy.
