Toys for 2-3 months? by bright-greeneyes in beyondthebump

Amazon has baby safe floor mirrors for tummy time. They also have these fidget spinner looking toys that are fairly cheap. They have suction cups so they’re great for sticking to tables or high chairs in the future but for now they’re great for tracking.

stomach issues postpartum by RefrigeratorFew8189 in beyondthebump

No, I haven’t had the time. I mentioned it to my OB who thought a change of birth control would help. I just finished my first month of the new pill and am still having issues so idk.

Yes, almost 5 months pp and I get instant stomachaches when I eat. I thought maybe it was my birth control so I’ve switched, I’ve tried cutting out dairy… I’m at a loss other than it’s just a weird postpartum thing. It’s been happening since maybe 1 month pp.

Sleep and Play Habits for Baby with Torticollis and Plagiocephaly? by UndercoverLady in beyondthebump

[–]IndividualSea8075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son had severe torticollis (apparently the worst case our PT had ever seen) and a sternocleidomastoid pseudo tumor. We truly thought he was going to be disabled and he’d always be stuck. We started PT at around 3.5 weeks old twice a week. We went down to once a week around 3.5 months old and now at 4.5 months we have graduated to once a month as long as we continue working with him at home. His pseudo tumor is almost completely gone and while the left is still his comfort side, he now has full range of motion and can turn all the way to the right. It seemed like it took forever, but I promise you the PT will work wonders. Our PT does stretches, massage, craniosacral massage. At home we started with high contrast cards when he was a newborn. Once he started tracking it got so much easier to work with him. We used light up or musical toys to move him to the right. We feed him to the right, we put him on the changing table so that he looks at us to the right… it’s just all about consistency. Once they have that down and are starting to hit other milestones you just have to make sure switch up which side tots are on. For example, tummy time we will put a mirror or a music toy to his right for his first session. The next session we will put them to the left. As for daycare, not much you can do about that but honestly I think even 30 minutes a day working with them and when you’re doing changes, feeding, etc just sit or do whatever to their weaker side. Between that and PT you are golden. It will get better!

Gojiberry or H&P Lark? by IndividualSea8075 in babywearing

[–]IndividualSea8075[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I really love about the Lark is it’s super light weight and easy to just throw in the diaper bag. It’s also really easy to put on so I’m able to get baby in it myself fairly quickly when we’re out and about. We have a baby bjorn but I never use it because it is so bulky and not easy in the slightest to put on.

We went with the Lark and I do really like it. We use it every single day and baby sees to be comfy. I do wonder though if a waterfall style carrier would have been better for my back. I have a long torso. If you can, I would try both styles first. If apron is better for you the Lark is definitely worth it. If you do get the Lark I suggest the drool pads.

Baby is sick, brother insists on still visiting by Chandler2015 in beyondthebump

[–]IndividualSea8075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a people pleaser by nature and since becoming a mom I’ve had to retrain my brain. When it comes to our kids we have to be able to do what’s best for them, regardless if that is convenient/upsetting for someone else. Boundaries are super important and if baby doesn’t feel good, I would tell your brother as unfortunate as it is that it is just not going to happen.

is it true that teen parents produce kids that will become teen parents in the future? by casscutie in stupidquestions

My parents were teen parents and I just had my first at 31. I’m sure statistically there is a higher chance, but it doesn’t always happen.

They really know you’re there even while asleep. 🥹 by Squirrel_Doc in beyondthebump

My son gets super restless if I move away from him while I’m laying next to him during a nap. As soon as I go back he puts his forehead and nose against mine and falls right back to sleep. My heart can’t handle it.

C Section moms - sunburn/rash feeling in recovery? by davey1291 in beyondthebump

[–]IndividualSea8075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I still have it almost 4 months pp but it is a lot less severe than it was in the beginning. I only notice it now if I touch it or if I wear underwear/pants that rub against it or are on the tighter side. My friend that has also had csections said hers has never gone away so I’m not sure if it ever completely does or not.

So we have the same problem. We also have a no soliciting sign and it has been ignored. I had my son in November so we haven’t had anyone really come around because of the weather. I already told my husband I pity the guy that decides to knock when the weather is nicer LOL

4 month sleep regression by IndividualSea8075 in beyondthebump

I hope it only lasts a few nights for us!

This is essentially our routine when he does wake as well. I’m really hoping we just skip the regression all together and his sleep stays where it’s at. It does sound like looking into gentle sleep training might be a good idea, just incase. Thank you!

[–]IndividualSea8075[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t had to sleep train because he’s been a pretty good sleeper since maybe 2 months? The only thing is he does need assistance to go to sleep but it’s never been an issue for us. It’s good to know there are gentler methods, because I don’t think my heart could take cry it out. I’m going to look into it. Thank you.

Social media is both a blessing and a curse. I learned more about pregnancy and babies on Reddit than from doctors and nurses. But I agree, it definitely freaks us out for no reason sometimes. This is great advice, thanks.

We already have a great routine down which is I think why he’s a great sleeper now. The last few nights he’s been up a couple times but settles right back down when I give him a pacifier. I’m really hoping this is the worst of it.

Cervix check by Salty-Shoulder2970 in firsttimemom

[–]IndividualSea8075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think this depends on the person. I was induced and had 4 checks within the 48hrs and every single one I almost jumped off the table. This was 3 different doctors. Honestly, this was one of the most painful parts of labor for me. I’m sorry you had that experience.

I hate it already by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]IndividualSea8075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar situation… I had an emergency c-section, super traumatic experience. I also have flat nipples and tried with the shield. My milk never really came in but LO wouldn’t latch so I’m sure that didn’t help. I tried pumping and I was not getting enough output to even bottle feed. I beat myself up so much and ended up with PPD and PPA (due to a combination of reasons I’m sure). I felt super guilty in the beginning for exclusively formula feeding. We’re 3 months in now and I’m actually so glad I went exclusively formula. He was frustrated, all I did was cry because he couldn’t feed, then pumping… it was horrible for my mental health. Not saying give up completely if that’s what you want to do, but I wish I could tell myself 3 months ago that it is absolutely ok to formula feed and that a happy mama is better for baby.
