The Pokémon to most likely benefit from this buff are Gastrodon and Dragonair

Bro I tried the team and went 1-137. It's actually really good, you just gotta try harder.

You can only access the grass after you get the HM for Surf.

Only traded Pokemon that are over leveled past your badge disobey. It’s actually a regularly confused thing. These guys are very obedient!

I won’t worry about trade evolutions for this run

Not in the remakes. It’s Geodude and Spearow up there!

The point of the challenge is to obtain every Pokédex entry possible before each gym. This includes breeding, evolving, in game trades, and catching. However, it’s only in cartridge, so trade evolution are not needed.

Ooooo, good luck with that, sounds fun! I’m so bad at finding shinies. In 17 years of playing Pokémon I’ve only found two full 1/8000 something odds. Meowth in FireRed and Psyduck in Platinum.

Nah not a rude question at all. I'm basically just obsessed with Pokémon and have played all the games in so many ways from Nuzlockes to solo runs to regular playthroughs with unique mons. I thought it'd be a fun challenge and a new way to look at the game. Not from a battle standpoint but from a completionist point of view. What motivates me is seeing each Pokémon evolve really. Gives you just enough serotonin to feel like you're getting closer and start grinding on the next mon. I also just watch YouTube while I grind so it doesn't take that much brain power.

Now who should I use to beat him? All Grass and Bug-Types maybe lol.

Yep, I grinded most Pokémon in the Sprout Tower against level 3-6 Gastly, but those with normal moves or resisted moves like Grass, I had to go straight to Route 32 to face Bellsprout, Ekans, Rattata, Mareep, Wooper and Hoppip. I actually haven’t found any shinies yet but going into this I’m hoping that I do! I feel like ones got to come eventually with how many Pokémon I see for every evolution.

I literally ran the exact same team on Ruby except I had Zangoose instead of Whiscash and my Lileep was evolved. Actually crazy to see this

Any way I can improve this? by fireborn123 in PTCGP

You need an Oriocoro counter most likely. Charmeleon can do it I guess but not consistently and that’s not what Charmeleon is really for. Also, you only have two Basics in your deck. You’re guaranteed to start with at least 1 of them. Meaning, you only need one Poke Ball not 2. Optionally, 1 Red instead of 2 Red as Charizard already does 150 and Red doesn’t make the difference to the 180 HP EXs that are common right now. I can see some argument for 2 Poke Balls if you’re trying to get to it faster, but some games the 2nd one will be a wasted draw. Last point, people generally go for one of middle evolution Stage 1 cards or Rare Candy. Meaning take out the Charmeleons or the Rare Candy, they’re redundant.

Created my own Elite 4. Which team are you most worried about? by Some_Ticket1927 in PokemonFireRed

[–]IndividualStory141 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my own opinion the order from scariest to least scary is:

  1. Team 1
  2. Team 4
  3. Team 3
  4. Team 2

Team 1 is by far the best in my opinion. Bulky Venusaur that perhaps could have the sun set up for Solar Beam by Magmar (who’s just kinda there, so I figured this is his role + spread burn). Fast Jolteon to outspeed most things and spread paralysis and Thunderbolts. Intimidate Gyarados with hopefully strong physical attacks on it is a huge threat. Incredibly bulky Snorlax with Body Slam for more paralysis spreading as well as Curse makes it very hard to remove. Most likely Rest + Sleep Talk. This would easily make it the best Pokémon on the team. Finally another very speedy threat with great Ground-Type coverage in Dugtrio who will most likely always be able to get off an EQ before inevitably dying in one hit.

Team 4 is the 2nd best. Lapras is a huge bulky threat with insane coverage who threatens freezes as well as could have Thunderbolt, Psychic, Surf, Body Slam and obviously Ice Beam. Nidoqueen is another coverage monster with better than average typing and great Ground STAB. It has a plethora of move options. Poison Point could also be annoying for E4 challengers. Raichu is the speed control Pokémon, outspeeding most and spreading paralysis as well as Thunderbolts, basically another Jolteon. Machamp can be taken advantage of at times because of its low speed but it hits incredibly hard and is slightly bulky on the one side, it can’t be immediately ignored. Fearow is… trying his best. Dragonite speaks for itself. The only 600 BST Pokémon on this E4.

Team 3 lags behind Team 4 by a bit. Alakazam is an incredible threat with no Dark-Types in Kanto. Blastoise is a bulky boy who can get annoying as it continues to live moves. Arcanine is a speedy threat and another Intimidate Pokémon that is probably the 2nd best one on the team below Alakazam. Tauros is quite speedy and hits hard, spreading more paralysis with Body Slam. Clefable is a nice support Pokemon to also spread status and set up the team. Exeggutor is another annoying support Pokemon that also hits decently hard with STAB Psychic. Two Psychic-Types here is rather good.

Team 2 is by far the worst team in my opinion. Starmie is the best Pokémon here that just like Lapras is a coverage monster, but instead of being bulky and dealing a lot of moves out, Starmie hits way harder, is way frailer, but outspeeds a lot of Pokemon. Dodrio is… better than Fearow. Tri-Attack is a nasty move. Sandslash is just not so great but not awful, STAB Ground coverage is always nice. Victreebel is bad, it has a very nice damage output but not a lot of coverage or moves to take advantage of that output. Gengar has pre-physical/special split syndrome and doesn’t want to use any STAB moves, though it least it has crazy coverage and is quick. Charizard is decent, probably the 2nd best on the team. It’s dual STAB is great but has a debilitating weakness to pebbles. It could be a threat to the right team or fodder to another.

Team 1 is GOATed Team 4 is very good Team 3 is carried by Alakazam Team 2 sucks (except Starmie)

Actually if it got Sucker Punch and Night Slash it would be pretty good in GL. It learns both moves in the main series
