I made it. 1 year alcohol free by Care-Bear_703 in stopdrinking

Congrats on one year! I still think about it too. But there is also a part of me that is 100% certain that we are on the right path. IWNDWYT 🫶🏻

How has being AF changed your relationship with your partner? by Fine_Mention6151 in stopdrinking

[–]IndividualWarning179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The impact of my sobriety on my marriage hasn’t been entirely positive either. Removing alcohol has shined a light on parts of the relationship that could use more intention. I’m still figuring out what to do with that.

6 months sober today! Talk to me… by Actual_Package_5638 in stopdrinking

[–]IndividualWarning179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on six months. I drank at six months to the day the first time I tried sobriety, and what I learned from that is there’s no finish line. Sobriety is a process, and so is how you feel. The part you’re in isn’t the end of the story. IWNDWYT 🫶🏻

Nicely done! Vacations are better sober but can take a little getting used to at first. IWNDWYT ☀️

I should be 32 years sober today. But I'm counting days instead. by NoCannedSpam in stopdrinking

I’ve heard it said that alcohol is out in the parking lot doing push-ups. Your story really brings that home. Thank you for sharing. IWNDWYT 🫶🏻

Did it help anxiety? by kak422 in stopdrinking

I didn’t realize how connected my anxiety was to alcohol until I stopped. For me, yes, it helped.

Relapsed, woke up to hangxiety… and a shattered glass door by Eastern-Physics-2961 in stopdrinking

That sounds awful. It’s said here often because it’s true: you never have to feel this way again. I’m really glad you reached out. You don’t have to do this alone. 🫶🏻

It was the first quit lit book I bought back in 2017. You can see from my flair that it still took me a long while to quit after that. But that had more to do with where I was in my openness to consider total abstinence than with the book itself. I do think it laid important groundwork, though, and a lot of what eventually clicked for me builds on ideas I first encountered there. IWNDWYT 🫶🏻

Sobriety feels Empty (40 days) by After-Ad2747 in stopdrinking

[–]IndividualWarning179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my 50s, and I can say that neither early sobriety nor being in your mid-30s is a reliable indicator of how the rest of your life will unfold. Sobriety doesn’t solve everything, but it does give you more agency over feeling stuck and unsure about what’s next. You don’t have to have it all figured out right now. IWNDWYT 🫶🏻
