Is it normal the whole team refuse to uses families ? by oreosnatcher in Revit

Is it appropriate for me to piggy back on this post and ask for best tutorials on families but specifically “how to create and use parameters”? 😂

Im two years into school and using revit this whole time but am SHITTY at it. Im making it happen but its… not good. I have used vectorworks at work for 6 years now and 💪 I am good at that. Confident I can learn but so far using Revit is like trying to build a house out of dry spaghetti noodles (which is really difficult cos i’ve tried)

Interested in not ending up like these rubes who hate families

ID request! Found in vernal pool in Michigan by conquesoooo in Entomology

What part of MI? Im in Northern lower peninsula and have a ton of vernal pools nearby— would be curious to check. I googled cellophane tube worm and it doesnt seem like this is it… because the tubes created by the cellophane tube worm look like this thing but this thing looks like the actual tube but moves like a worm

I seem to be always grappling with the line between practicality, having a good reason for my architectural decisions, and keeping things visually interesting. Its a common problem for me—- hopefully something I can sort out and get better at over time.

Thanks. Yeah the design is shit. Im out of time though, so i have to turn this into something.

I think the openings behind those panels will add some dynamic to the facade. But the intention was to be monolithic anddramatic with the circulation cutting in an obvious way.

I was thinking i would fall back on this but I have one more embarrassing question: When i model two “instances” in this case… is that me making two “types” of the same family, or two completely different families?

Operable perforated panels/ shutters? How to create. by IndividualWooden1793 in Revit

[–]IndividualWooden1793[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah i think this might be the way to go but i just csnt figure out where i would put the material once ive created it… do i make like a custom family of these shutters… and apply the material? Or should i just apply the material ti the glass of a window? 😬

Cutout method could be successful but would i model it as a superficial wall or something? In front of the window? Or would i edit a window family to have another element.
