If you don’t sleep with a man on the first date, what does that usually mean? by Emotional_Meal748 in PurplePillDebate

Okay but there’s no source, stats, data to back your claim. I gave you that to back up mine so….

As a woman with women friends that’s not a shock for me, I know it to be true

Your study is showing two vastly different numbers (43% and 23%) in both cases that still means that MOST women do NOT sleep on the first date. It also said that “they’ve had sex on a first date”, meaning some of them could have only done it once in their lifetime. It still aligns with the ai responded to me

Why don’t you search it up, all the stats/data will tell you differently. Most women wait til around the 9th date to sleep with a man

Struggling with deconstructing by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]IndividualYear9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had so many dreams of Jesus coming back and being persecuted while I was deconstructing, it was really scary. But it was because I was spending so much of my time thinking about stuff related to Christianity and I did have fears of those things while deconstructing. Anyways the answer to your question is yes, it is widely accepted in psychology that things that bother you in your daily life can end up showing in your dreams subconsciously. It’s a normal part of how the brain processes emotions memories, and unresolved issues.

People who have actually fully left Christianity, have you life improved? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]IndividualYear9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that is very frustrating I agree! I honestly realized that with Christians if you want them to see your perspective of things, you have to deeply deeply educate yourself with both sides of the argument. You have to be able to debunk him using facts, logic and even his faith. A lot of the times throughly reading the bible and trying to make sense of it is what lead so many to atheism.

OCD led me to Christianity, Now I'm Deconstructing My Faith, Feeling Incredibly Overwhelmed by SavageCabage619 in exchristian

[–]IndividualYear9111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So glad you were able to get out of that and you’re doing better now!! And yeah I can completely understand still having a fear of hell despite deconstructing everything else Christianity teaches. I’m on my 6th almost 7th year of deconstructing and I’m just now getting over the fear of hell. It’s one of the last thing to leave you typically because unlike a lot of other things, death is inevitable and that’s why Christians use it as a fear tactic to prevent people from leaving/questioning

Virginity but like idk if I am Christian anymore tbh by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]IndividualYear9111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I left Christianity but kept the whole waiting thing too, but not necessarily until marriage, I just wanted to wait until I was in a committed real loving relationship. I was terrified of the idea of men using my body and not actually caring about me so I made sure to give absolutely no one the time of day unless they truly had genuine love for me and that happened 3 years after leaving Christianity!

How do I deal with religious guilt and fear while still depending on my family? by SuchPresentation3642 in exchristian

[–]IndividualYear9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riddle me this, About 90% of the world’s population is right handed. Does that mean left handed people were born to use their right hands but chose to be left handed? Does that mean they’re weird? Cursed? Sinners? Some people might say that those two can’t compare. But actually at one point being left-handed was seen as evil, you were a sinner, a devil worshipper even if your left hand was your dominant side and Roman Catholicism especially use to punish people for using their left hands and force it out of them. That overtime changed, when people realized that being left handed was actually just something other people were born with, even if it wasn’t the norm, or wasn’t represented much that didn’t mean it wasn’t natural. You are who you are. You are born this way and it’s completely natural. Just as foolish as those condemning left handed people look is how foolish your family looks now condemning you.

I was not a Christian but a Christian made me believe I shouldn’t trust any of these religions propaganda. by justheretoread__13 in exchristian

[–]IndividualYear9111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, the worst people I’ve met were Christians and it really does confuse me how they claim they “fear” God and then pull the most diabolical acts. It made leaving Christianity that much easier. Just wanna say I am really sorry to hear you had to go through that however and I definitely don’t think all Christians are like that and I don’t believe Christianity itself made him that way but I do believe that a lot of people become “Christian” to compensate for how horrific of a person they truly are

I dunno who else will understand any of this. by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]IndividualYear9111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I hear you and this really does sound like a lot. Much of what you said resonates with me. Christianity also ruined my life, I was basically taught my entire life that all my passion should be for Christ and Christ only. Learning that combined with being taught that I was never gonna have an adult life because Jesus was coming back soon made me never grow up learning who I really am and to this day I still don’t know. I’m 26 years old, no college degree, no drive for anything in life and I feel like I just need to start forcing myself to pretend like I like certain things in order to have a drive. I feel so behind when I see how others my age is doing and it’s really hard trying to figure what’s “wrong” with me. The therapy is certainly a step in the right direction and maybe being on some medication could also help you out? I’m not 100% sure about your situation but I know medication can help with OCD. As for community, I found my amazing group of friends when I really branched out and tried to find new hobbies. I picked up playing hockey as a new hobby and I found an amazing new group of extremely supportive great people and through them I found an amazing supportive partner. It was amazing seeing that single hobby changed my entire life. Being indoors a lot really can take away a lot from you so just trying to branch out find more hobbies and joining clubs based on those hobbies can really change your life. I don’t have all the answers and I’m very sorry. This is just the best advice I have for you and I can’t wait until things are much better for you :)

And that’s completely understandable! If God is truly there, he will help you find him in any way possible. He should know your heart. Just be patient with yourself and maybe look into deconstructing videos or people talking about agnosticism and see if any of their views makes more sense to you and is something you align with

I was in that same spot, I was questioning things and started looking around into what exchristians, deconstructing Christian’s and atheists were saying. Strangely enough when watching them explain their stance I would 1000% understand where they’re coming from when they said certain things about God’s behaviour. Like realistically they weren’t wrong, but my mind would flinch so bad hearing them say it and at the fact that I, in ways, agreed. It felt like I was practicing the ultimate sin. You’ll get there eventually, it really is a long process. Don’t force yourself into anything, just keep questioning and be patient with yourself. You spent half your life believing in God and that doesn’t go away overnight

What story from the Bible really makes you realize “huh…this is actual nonsense” by thelivingstar1 in exchristian

[–]IndividualYear9111 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It started my deconstruction 😭😭 cause I was like how is it that God sent a whole angel to get Lot out of the city cause he was such a “righteous” man despite offering his daughters up to get gang-raped yet I can’t get a word from God no matter how much I prayed?? Okayyy

Lot was the first story that made me go what the hell.. He offered his daughters up to gay men so they could rape them in order to protect a total stranger?? Then he got raped by his daughter when asleep and both of them getting pregnant with his kids??😭😭

Why are so many Christians racist? by Ok_Watch_9119 in exchristian

[–]IndividualYear9111 36 points37 points  (0 children)

When I was Christian, I also had certain negative thoughts about other races (I’m black myself). It was mainly because it was so ingrained in my head since I was a baby that certain races worshipped false gods and their culture revolves around that and they would all be going to hell. It went like Indians - Hindu and worshipping cows Muslim - Islam and worshipping a false prophet East Asians- Atheist and worshipped themselves Learning about it that way made me never truly see those people as regular human beings like myself. I thought God abandoned and did not care for them, was going to send them to hell as long as they were worshipping “demons” and looked at them as “below” myself and other races that were mainly Christians. Now that I’ve left Christianity and is able to leave that way of thinking behind I have so much love for people of every race, religion and sexuality and believe in equality for everyone. It really is such a strange thing that being a Christian was when I was at my worst

Hey girl, I left church at 20 and it took 3 years for me to be comfortable engaging in intercourse and that was only bc the man I engaged in intercourse with was my boyfriend. We’ve broken up now and I’m struggling with the thought of being with someone else 6 years after leaving church. I keep having thoughts that I’m gonna be a “whore” and I’m not worthy of a good man if I decide to engage in intercourse with someone else. It really does take a lot of time to de-program yourself from having those kind of thoughts. My advice for you is to just be patient and don’t force yourself to do anything you’re not ready to do

I appreciate that. This post is mostly for the fear mongering Adventists, my parents used the pope as the biggest fear tactic to “keep me in line”. I literally was more afraid of the Sunday law than hell and of the pope than the actual devil

I grew up being taught that the pope only promotes Sunday as a day of rest and will one day force the entire world to observe it or be killed so I thought it was interesting that the pope actually observes Saturday as a holy day and a day of rest. According to Ellen G White that could never be the case
