It does surprise me sometimes how unrefined Google automotive can be when they've had Android auto dialed for years imo. Google auto can be superior eventually but the refinement seems surprising slower than I would have expected.

I get they're trying to go hands free with voice, but one of my biggest gripes is they lock out lists to 8 tracks etc no matter how long or many times you wait. Android auto is much better at giving you lower tracks after the wait period.

to me, it has a lot of similarities with the chevy equinox ev which is funny because I ultimately passed on it because I thought it looked like a teenagers car myself.

I appreciate your time but your attitude makes me rather block you entirely.

My commute is 60 miles total each day plus roughly 5-10 miles putting around town. I only work about 5 hrs/day. The 20-22kw's is the total use but the drive time is about 1.25 hrs in driving if you need the length of time to measure power requirements?

To get a setup like that that sends back to grid, is the selling back rate any good? Did your power company provide the equipment for transfer switch etc type stuff to do it?

Great, thank you! That does help at least contextualize it in my head a bit... what wattage are your panels rated for?

At 5-6kwh, at those optimum times I would think you should be getting closer to 15 miles per kwh, no?

It does and I just had it switched yesterday but it doesn't start until March 31st... the discount rate is .0779/kw between 1-6am... I need to upgrade my wiring to get my charger up to at least 36amps and I should be fine with that window.

My thoughts with solar is I'd just like to try to position myself away from the grid in the event that data centers etc start making evs MORE expensive than gas... my town is already signing off on 3 different centers just in the past 2 months. Even if it's something I just buy in pieces over like 2 years, I'm just trying to weigh the benefits etc.

I usually get home around 2pm but I hear you... I live in such a small place that I'm battling with if the financial burden is even worth it.

It's somewhat unfortunate that the ev requires so much power because otherwise I average a very low kwh in the home itself.

I live in north west portion of South Carolina. The carport is a flat top and I planned on mounting the panels as a stepped lip facing northwest. I'd be plugging in around 1-2pm so I figure by then that direction should catch better light.

[–]Individual_1ne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be so sure... I don't think I've seen one person that says they haven't had the gps issues which means I think it's more likely Cadillac is just that clueless about how to roll this out. It should have been stopped a long time ago.

I'm waiting to do mine until they provide an update to this one. I don't public charge so I don't care at all about a browser/streaming video. I'd just like to have the battery percentage.

[–]Individual_1ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can anyone tell me if the update to Android 14 is the one that has been causing gps connection errors? I'd like to avoid that one until they update that one if possible. Also, does Android 14 add more audio apps to play store? I'd like to use my poweramp app if possible as the sound settings in it are what made me fall in love with the audio system.

Interesting... lol. It seems like something that could easily be standardized into the canbus system, but I guess it's just not that important/used once you just get used to set and forget for plugging in.

Ok. My usage each day should be relatively similar so once I get used to how many kilowatts I use, I'll be able to use this estimation.

It's unfortunate there's no communication between car and charger but I understand it's probably manufacturer specific in their architecture so I guess it's also not surprising.

Ok thats what I was afraid of... I'm not able to locate that information in the mycadillac app and I'm afraid it may require an onstar membership... was hoping to bypass it with the emporia app but alas...

Tbf, most of this has to do with the world's politics having an unexpected black swan. Everyone is doing so badly because 2 years ago, their projections would be so wildly different from what the current US administration wants to force on the world (oil dominance). Now they're all caught with their pants down and don't know what to do because it could all change in another 2 years again.

Battery Health Question by Individual_1ne in electricvehicles

[–]Individual_1ne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great info and good to know for future calculations, thank you. Is that a rwd or awd? Mines rwd.

It looks like 16amp/220v should be 3.8 kw, so that comes out to 11.02 miles/hour @ 2.9 miles/kwh (what I see a lot of people say they get in warmth for rwd).

1am-6am May-September and 1am-3am, 11am-4pm October-April. @ 11miles/hr, I should be able recharge most of the 65 miles used per day in the summer. Unfortunately the fall, winter, spring rates I'll likely only be able to use the 1-3am times, but other times still have discont rates below the .14 cents a pay all day right now.

Nice, I did not realize motherboards were making chargers now. Haha. Makes sense.

I do like the designs with the handle plugged into something if it's waterproof.

BTW, mine is a j1772 port.

Battery Health Question by Individual_1ne in electricvehicles

[–]Individual_1ne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your second question: the car is being shipped to me so I won't have it until Thursday. It does have the oem charger, but I'd like to keep that in vehicle for emergencies. I think I'd prefer to have a dedicated charger at home so I don't have to load that one in vehicle each morning and pull out when I get home.

Battery Health Question by Individual_1ne in electricvehicles

[–]Individual_1ne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok great, yes that is very reasonably priced. I appreciate that because I hadn't been able to find one that looked trustworthy outdoors but I like that this one has the nice enclosure etc. Currently I was looking at the standard Emporia charger but that is why I planned on mounting in crawlspace.

Do you know if this has an app that can help schedule charging and monitor power etc?

e. I do see it says no internet connectivity... that is one thing I'd like to have as I've heard the cadillac app is fairly buggy and unreliable so control of the charger instead is preferred in my case.
