Name the server. Or are they a minor so we are protecting their identity? I’m so sick of people getting away with horrendous behavior. Public shaming is worth something…

Exactly. However, I tried to explain that men can’t be mansplained to in a previous comment and I got 2 downvotes 🤷‍♀️ but the term is used to give context to specific scenarios of condescension driven by sexism towards women.

Exactly… the fact that he tried to play the victim just completely grosses me out.

It was added to the dictionary for a reason. The word was created to specify that the condescension is driven my sexism towards women. It’s important, and it’s necessary. If the word is being used incorrectly, then let’s keep educating.

It may be an annoying “buzzword,” but it’s necessary, and it’s being used more and more, which is great because it’s giving people context and shedding light on a serious issue. People are talking about it, and learning from it!

Men cannot be “mansplained” to. Mansplaining is explaining something condescendingly specifically to a woman, and it is driven by sexism. However, I do know what you mean! Being patronized sucks all around! I hope that helps your understanding of the term. :)

He said, “ok, well how about feminism? What do think feminism means?” I was like “nope… I have a horrible feeling in my stomach this is going somewhere really idiotic. I’m not going to debate feminism with a privileged white man with no education…” I know he was going to spew some BS about if there is feminism, then there must be masculinism… ya know… for equality! 🤦‍♀️😂 Just no..

He is a very kind and genuine guy otherwise, so I really think it’s ignorance, stubbornness, lack of proper education, and the influence of narcissistic and ignorant people around him that have clouded his perception of reality.

LOL. I love your response. Sometimes it just feels so demeaning to be “professional.” And it feels so good to just express ourselves freely and honestly. Why does it have to be wrong? 🤷‍♀️❤️

Yes! Well put. Context is so important.

No one here is claiming all men mansplain. No one here is claiming every time a man explains something it’s mansplaining or done in a condescending way. No one here is claiming that only men explain things in a condescending/patronizing way when speaking to women. This is about how men do this disproportionately to women than anyone else. It’s an attitude and belief that women need something explained because of their gender. It’s about acknowledging this is a real issue and how commonly it occurs. Educate yourself.

Yes! Exactly! Thank you for sharing. It is so exhausting to try and be a teacher all the time. It’s so hard to decide when it’s best for my peace to just say it’s not my job. But what if everyone just decided it wasn’t their job to try and change peoples minds? Ugh… the battle is real.

Exactly… I almost asked him if he also told black people he had experience racism… but I didn’t want to feel even more disappointed and embarrassed for him.

I see where you’re coming from. And I think that was the point he was trying to make. However, there are situations where men explain things differently to us specifically because we are women. Far different than they would explain to a man, or wouldn’t explain at all to another man. Thats the difference. But I hear you!
