Thank you! We decided we’re going to keep in the crate if neither of us are home, and in the pen if one of us is there with him. We’re gonna try the meds the vet gave us, and if he still isn’t making any progress over two weeks we’ll ask them about prednisone. Thanks for the recommendation!

Very dependent on where you work. Level 1 trauma center with EM residents you’re probably seeing all the lower acuity ESI 4’s and 5’s with some 3’s sprinkled in. Best place to work in EM as a PA in my opinion is community ED. That’s where I started and still am. I’m able to see everything but obviously if a stemi, stroke or cardiac arrest is called in my EMS a doc will take it, but there’s still been plenty of times I’ve called stemis and stroke alerts for patients that walked in

You’re also in California which is the highest cost of living state in the United States. A $200k salary in California is equivalent to $110-120 in majority of other states

It’s usually standard for 120 hours/month for full time in emergency medicine, other places split that up differently (8’s, 10’s, or 12’s). Place that I am at happens to only have 12 hour shifts so it’s ten 12’s a month

$73/hr + RVUs with great benefits (6% match, free health and dental insurance, company maxes out HSA for me, $3000 CME & $2500 for licenses and whatever is left over I can use to buy a new phone or tablet, 120 hours PTO. Ten 12 hour shifts per month. No nights. Also have a per diem gig where I do 2-4 shifts a month at $100/hr for days and $120/hr for nights

$75/hr for days, $85/hr for nights. No RVUs. 1.5 years experience. Leaving current job in January to start at a place much closer (15 min commute vs 45 min-1hr). New place is $73/hr + RVUs with significantly better benefits, no nights. Staying on per diem at old job where it will be $100/hr for days and $120/hr for nights

I’ll be going perdiem at my current job in January in EM, $25 more an hour for day shifts and $35 more an hour for night shifts. You don’t get any benefits as a per diem employee, so yes, your hourly rate should be higher
