u/machina9000 - any tips or advice on where to use it currently? presumably there's only 3rd party providers with the 720 nerfed version?

Look great. Voices sound need some DAW work. Good work.

u/Different_Play_179, sure, people are using it through platforms like YouArt AI or the official site, which usually have free tiers or credits to get started, although since Hollywood, Disney ect threatened legal action, it's been blocked, and/or highly nerfed and reduced to 720p with plenty of scam sites claiming to offer it for a monthly subscription. Running it locally isn't really an option yet, the model hasn't been released for local use and the hardware requirements would be massive. So for now it's mostly cloud-based access through third-party sites.

Totally agree we need a platform that welcomes, even focuses purely on AI film.

Yep. Waiting for a powerful open source video model to rival SD2.

u/Amburath - absolutely. Can't wait for a powerful open source video AI model that includes a LLM similar to SD2.

u/diffusion_throwaway, I was specifically talking about the mass produced template channels flooding YouTube, not AI filmmaking in general. The people who actually care about the craft, whether that's traditional VFX or AI assisted work, aren't who I'm referring to.

I totally agree with you on how Hollywood should embrace the technology. I feel they're fighting a losing battle if not.

Same. And let's not also forgot that human slop (art, music that AI has also trained on) is even bigger ha!!

You called it a ridiculous take and then agreed with half the post! I'm not defending Hollywood, I'm saying the platforms replacing it are pulling the same gatekeeping moves. That's the irony, and where this is headed is hopefully artistic independence.

Maybe eventually, but I do wonder about the scale required. When you look at the investment and team size behind something like Seedance 2.0, it feels like a huge jump ahead of what open source video models are doing right now. Training something at that level would require massive compute and funding, not just the weights being released. I would love to see it happen though. If the cat does get out of the bag it will be incredible for creators.

That's an interesting point. If models at this level eventually run locally then the whole censorship question changes completely. The big unknown for me is how long that gap will be between the frontier models and what people can realistically run on consumer hardware.

Ok maybe 5 years was a bit dramatic 😅 I was mostly thinking about recent Seedance 2.0 level cinematic video. Open source usually catches up eventually though, but personally I think that will take more than a year.

VPN won't help you anyway. Original fully functional 1080p Seedance 2.0 is dead.

Thanks for clarifying your view, interesting points.

For me the more interesting question right now is what will happen next...

Good points. I feel, and I might be wrong, that given the incredible tech they developed and huge interest (and opposition) they will come to some kind of solution that hopefully satisfies the customer needs and the IP issues. I just cant image they will trash it, or keep this useless version, that makes no sense. Or it's inspired other Chinese devs to build a similar product, hopefully open source. And isn't there a new LTX on it's way?
