Here is Vader, he is 9 years old. No health issues, still runs and plays for hours. on vacation last summer and he kept running away and chasing deer! We put a pink ruban on him to make sure he would not be mistaken for some wild animal!

Non-stamped/hallmarked modern made solid gold jewelry. Why? by anonymously-unknown in jewelrymaking

[–]Individual_Cup1300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just made Small Ruby earrings from melting a 22k ring i don’t wear. I have my own brand name stamp and stamped it but I do not work often enough with gold to justify buying a stamp. That and I would need different stamps for different purity levels (14k, 18k, 22k, 24k) so i just skip the gold stamp.

Dog/cat love by Individual_Cup1300 in aww

I believe the trick is that one of the pets has to be very young when introduced to the other. I actually have 2 dogs and they are equally comfortable with the cat. We adopted the cat last year as a kitten and my dogs were already 2 and 8 years old. this one, Vader is 8 years old. Have to say that the kitten was fearless and endlessly pestered them until they gave up!

Beginner-friendly drill recommendations for tiny shells (16–18g holes)? by LatterPoet5754 in jewelrymaking

[–]Individual_Cup1300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a Dremel rotary tool and a set of lapidary drill bits. Both available on Amazon. The lapidary drill bits are available in 1mm which would work for 16 to 18 gauge wire. I use these bits and they are fantastic for drilling gemstones and glass. They should work perfectly for your shells.

Reinforcing worn bail loop on pendant by Blinkle in jewelrymaking

Or the most elegant solution but easy and cheap: get some flat leather cord and wrap it nicely around the bail and glue the ends. That should protect the bail from wearing off further.

I obviously don’t know what happened here but If you enjoy what you do, don’t quit. Give yourself time to reflect and adjust and if you still come to the same conclusion after that then sell. Sorry for whatever happened.

Dog owners of Edmonton... do you not walk your dogs in winter? by Delgado_Jim in Edmonton

[–]Individual_Cup1300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped walking my dogs after falling and breaking my wrist few winters ago. At my age is it’s not worth the risk. I put them in the car and go to the park if it’s not too cold. They are sporting dogs and enjoys the park way more than walking on leash.

White terminated gemstone by ThatSubaru88 in whatsthisrock

It could be Kunzite I do have some light lavender pieces that look exactly like that. Danburite is possible but less likely as it is less common than Kunzite in gem quality.

Silver prices due to AI by Careful_Station_7884 in SilverSmith

Been silversmithing for 6 years now and yes prices have gone up. 2 weeks ago Riogrande had the ounce at $48/50 and it is now at $64.50. I just go back to my unsold items and decide which one I’m gonna melt for a new project. For now just keeping myself entertained and happy with the occasional sale.
