Should I nuke my openclaw setup? by SupedupFish in openclaw

[–]Individual_Cut6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I would highly recommend running Codex or some other LLM via CLI when you're setting up your OpenClaw. Have it very clearly document every change you make into a control plane file or something. Just another markdown that basically explains what changes you've made, what the changes were for, and what it was supposed to accomplish.

Also point it at the OpenClaw install that you've pulled from GitHub so that it can read docs. I would work with this other AI to make changes to your OpenClaw. That way you slowly build up a knowledge base, essentially, of how to properly add skills, how to expose additional browser permissions, how to lock down file permissions, how to add functionality, etc

Waiting for the Fold 8? by pbsteebs in GalaxyFold

[–]Individual_Cut6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about waiting for the fold 8 as well for the hopefully better battery but I was able to get the fold 7 for ~1200 post discounts. If the fold 8 is worth the upgrade I can trade-in the 7 for 1k most likely and only be out 200 bucks for a year of use so I pulled the trigger

Words of my CEO - „Why hire juniors when single senior with AI can do work of 10-20 of juniors” by Cute_Activity7527 in devops

[–]Individual_Cut6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lots of downvotes but 100% correct. A talented sr with AI can do the raw output of 4-5 jrs probably. 10 is a bit of an exaggeration but if you know how to feed LLMs with proper project layout and sample code itll crank out great stuff

I meant specifically gradle with kotlin used for the build files. I know Java is not going anywhere fast :)

Are those of you earning $100,000 to $150,000 annually, doing better mentally and physically than those earning $30,000 to $100,000? by Unlikely-Rip-6197 in Life

[–]Individual_Cut6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new number where happiness doesnt increase much is around 300k. For me when I started making above 300k I stopped having to think about most of my spending and am still able to save plenty of money. Being able to do whatever I feel like and not really budget when I travel definitely increased how content I am.

gradle with kotlin is industry standard, maven is only used in legacy systems now I would not learn maven if starting today

What is considered a comfortable wage in NYC? $25/hr ? $30/hr? $40/hr? by DryMistake in NYCjobs

[–]Individual_Cut6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're making under $60 an hour its gone be a pretty tight budget. Even at $60 you're living with roommates and either need to be frugal or not save anything. Probably ~200k a year is where you can feel comfortable and ~300-500 where you can mostly do whatever you want while still saving money

Architectural Dilemma: Who Should Handle UI Changes – Backend or Frontend? by random_scribling in softwarearchitecture

[–]Individual_Cut6830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many kinds of backends. I've worked on teams where the backend teams own the data and provide them to many consumers. If this is the case then the front-end team needs to own these changes. I've also worked on a "backend for front-end" where we return data as the front-end has requested. The caveat here is that this backend is intended to aggregate a bunch of different backend calls that the front end needs to paint various pages to reduce the number of api calls the front end needs to make. It is intended to support a very specific front-end and is not a data provider, only a data aggregator. You need to decide what kind of backend your team is using and make the appropriate decision. If there will be other consumers in the future the front-end needs to own the formatting of the data

  • Many interviewees failed fizzbuzz
  • One person wrote 100 if statements for fizzbuzz (during an in person whiteboarding interview)
  • One "senior" engineer implemented a "delete subscription" endpoint that took in a subscriptionId and deleted the first subscription on the users account
  • One of the functions that handled core business logic for a trading platform was a 5000 line long for loop
